I had induction booked last April due to GD too at pinders. Exactly the same thing happened to me. Took 3 days until I got the call, then another 2 days on a ward being induced before my waters broke. Wasn't great as you have it in your head you are going in and then waiting around to get the call. We didn't go in until the evening either. Delivery experience was great though x
I’m really surprised with that, they said with me having GD I was a priority over most other women even women over 41 weeks etc. I was due to go in for the Friday morning at 37 weeks and got the call to go in at 11 that Friday. This was 13 weeks ago. My birth at pinderfields was amazing despite all of the horror stories I heard there, my midwife was out of this world xx
@Shanice yeah that’s what surprised me as well because they said I’m priority due to it but I guess other people need it more 😅 they brought me in for monitoring and me and baby doing fine, just told me to come back if any issues or concerns
Exactly the same. Was meant to go in no beds. When I did get a bed they couldn't induce me as not enough midwives and emergencies coming in. I waited 5 days to be induced. I had issues late in pregnancy
@Claire jeez, how long ago was this?
To be fair when I went in for inducing the labour ward was full and I couldn’t go in for 3 days but I had to stay in hospital due to the GD xx
And good luck delivering baby! xx
I had exactly the same last may. I was told at my 36 week growth scan (9th may) baby hasnt grown you will be induced next week (16th). Didn't hear from them. I had to ring them at 3 o'clock to find out want is happening, was told they were busy but they could offer monitoring for the next day. I then went in everyday for monitoring. This went on till Thursday (19th) when I was at my monitoring appointment they had a bed for me. Went in at 4 in the afternoon, got checked over then told i was there till they had a bed for me on delivery to have waters broken. I finally got moved to delivery on Friday (20th) at 4:30 in the afternoon, had waters broken at 4:45 and had my baby boy at 2:02 in the morning on Saturday 21st
@Kate December 22
i was induced was supposed to be friday morning didn’t end up going in till friday evening, then i didn’t need ballon as i was already 3cm but i then had to wait until sunday for a bed on labour ward, the waiting around is very ridiculous in my opinion, the friday they told me i should have a bed sat, sat morning told me same and wasn’t till sunday morning xx
just to add i was a high risk pregnancy and was always near the top of the list and i had monitoring everyday from 34/35 weeks x
I'm booked in at pinderfields on Tuesday! Keep us updated xxx
@Jacqueline will do, I’m hoping it will be tomorrow as going back forth is such a pain as neither me or my partner drive
@Kate oh that is a pain!! Fingers crossed tomorrow is the day. I'm feeling quite anxious after reading your post now I'll be really stressed if they can't get me in 😭. Hope you are doing OK xxx

@Jacqueline I got a call at 12:30am to go in, still on the ward and waiting for my waters to be broken but was told it could be a few days wait due to how busy they are
@Kate aw what a pain!!! Have they given you the pessary? I'm panicking now my baby was predicted to be 9lb at 36 weeks and I'm 39 now so really concerned about the size 😞
@Jacqueline I just had the balloon Try not to panic too much, I’ve never known scan measurements to be right everyone’s babies always a different size when they actually come out
@Kate hope it's going OK! 🥰 have they sent you home with the balloon? I'll let you know if I get a call. Good luck!!! ❤ xxx
@Jacqueline no I was a impatient and yeah everything going fine, just still no room on the labour ward so still waiting for my waters to be broken Yeah keep me updated x
@Kate hey how you getting on? I came in last night for the balloon x
All these comments worries me... I've got an induction booked next Thurs 1st June but we run a pub and have cover over the weekend but if they don't have space for days it'll be an issue 😔 I have my fingers crossed it'll go smoothly 😂
I was told at 38+5 after my 1st growth scan they wanted to induce me on Monday when I was 39+1 due to concerns I would have a big baby. I didn’t get called in till Wednesday to the induction ward where I was supposed to have the balloon. As I was already 2cm dilated the ballon wasn’t necessary and was told I needed to wait for a bed on the Labour ward for my waters to be broken. Thankfully I was able to come home and wait. It’s now Sunday which is my due date. Every day they call saying there are no beds available. I wish they’d just let me be instead of panicking me. My midwife never sent me for the gestational diabetes test even though I’ve always been at the top of the chart and even went off it at one point then back to 97th Centile. This last week has been horrible, constantly waiting on a call from the hospital. I hope little miss comes soon on her own as I feel a bed will never become available to me unless I’m in active Labour and hope to then give birth on the birth Centre.
I went in to be induced on the 22nd Dec, they weren't able to induce as I was already 2cm dilated so kept me on the induction ward to wait for a bed, didn't get a bed until 25th Dec. Hopefully you've had a better experience x
Ended up being there 6days before a bed was available and I ended up giving birth to my daughter, I hope all you ladies have a better experience than I did! Only two positives was giving birth as my midwife was absolutely amazing and lovely + the lady that looked over all wards was amazing too and took care of me during a hard time and bad experience
@Kate I also waited 6 days as an outpatient after having the balloon inserted. I wish I hadn't been induced and had waited for birth naturally as although my baby was 9lb2 at birth I was told she would be over 10lbs at birth. She ended up coming the day before due day anyway so didnt seem worth the big fuss they made about me getting induced to cut risks. I gave birth vaginally via forceps delivery as my cervix was still really long. Ended up with a 3rd degree tear which obviously is all worth it but I think if I'd have waited and not been induced I'd have been in a better place for birth. Couldn't fault my midwife during delivery and induction. Overall on this occasion i had a bad experience. Praying that the wards get quieter so people can get beds quicker going forward!! 💕
I was due for induction on the Friday but didn’t get the call until the Monday afternoon this was back in oct :/ I then went back on the list for waters breaking but then they went on their own luckily
