I second adding vanilla extract in to the formula! My daughter wouldn’t touch her formula until I started adding a drop or two of vanilla in to it ❤️
Yeah i have been dping vanilla from the start as he wouldnt touch it otherwise, but for the last 3 or 4 weeks even with the vanilla hes refusing, and i simply dont have enough breastmilk for a whole day 😞 each bottle would need to be like 75% breastmilk and 25% oat (fortified growing up milk) for me to have enough
If you have 75% breast milk, could you not just try 25% formula?
Are you under a dietician? I would get in touch with them or your GP for advice, they can tell you what is safest and best for your little one ❤️
@Kadri my worry doing that is if he doesnt finish it then ive wasted the little breast milk i have
I think it’s at least worth a try as nutritionally it’ll definitely be more suitable for a 7 month old than any amount of oat milk
I think it’s a bit too early. Generally the transition is at 1 and I’ve heard of people getting the go ahead from around 11 months but I think 7 months is quite far off even early transition. Can you mix the formula into his breakfast or other meals to hide the taste? The other thing might be to try a different dairy free formula? My eldest hated puramino to start with as that smells and tastes really bitter and we did the vanilla essence trick and it worked over a few days. With my youngest we’ve changed a few times and on Alfamino now for my son who has multiple allergies which I’ve been told is better tasting than some of the others
I might not have fully made sense about the adding it into food above but if he has his typical breast feeds in the day and then add formula into his meals he should still be getting enough/not missing out on his milk xx
@Danielle already on Alfamino after crashing and burning through all the others too 😂🤦🏾♀️ I will ask the dietitian as our first appointment she told me i could give him any plant based milks. But i was only adding to food then and now its where i have rhe problem. Tried mixing Alfamino into food but he wont eat it
Yeah, you definitely can add any plant based milk to food, the same as babies without cmpa can have cows milk in meals but just not as a main drink. I’ve heard of people who’s babies refuse milk completely and then they just have food so potentially could just increase the food to compensate for not having the formula xx
I personally think it’s too early. Oat milk would not give the same level of nutrition as breast milk or formula. Oat milk as a drink can also be a lot on the digestive system, my baby was fine with it in food but as a drink (after 12 months) it gave her constant diarrhoea. Have you tried vanilla extract in the formula to make it taste better?
