TW C Section (baby girl is here) 💓

My little girl Isla is here 💓 After a sweep on Tuesday I started to have contractions the same evening from 6pm but not strong or close enough to go to hospital. I called the hospital the next morning as they were getting more intense and no sleep but was sent home as only 2cm. Me and my partner went for walks and contractions were every 3 minutes so got admitted. My waters were broken and my god the pain after this was unbearable so epidural it was and hormone drip to get things going. Examinations showed I hadn’t progressed 24 hours later so c section it was, baby girl came out fine but my uterus had to be cut bigger and stitched back up, lost 2l of blood and they thought they had cut my bladder also. Most scary experience of my life but then I look at my daughters face 💓

Thanks so much, I’m waiting to see if I can go home today, so miserable! Had a week and “the other stuff” just waiting around! It’s definitely easier as each day goes on that’s for sure xx

Try to take your pain relief on time as keeping on top of that really helps. I stopped it a few days early as I was feeling ok but it’s different for everyone. Apparently some people struggle with trapped wind after a section? I didn’t but peppermint tea is supposed to be good for that! After showering and bathing make sure to fully dry your scar area, just dabbing it gently. It’s normal for it to feel numb and can take a while to get sensation back around that area. Sorry that’s a lot of just random information but good luck lovely and take care of you as it’s a lot to process and you are also thrown straight into motherhood whilst recovering but you will do fab 🥰 x

@Harriet So everyone’s recovery from c section is so different but my advice is to try to be up and mobile moving around in them early days as much as you can as I really think that helps your recovery. Obviously it is major abdominal surgery so also take help wherever you can and need. Wear nice stretchy comfy pants and clothes like maxi dresses that don’t put pressure on your scar. If you need to cough, sneeze or if someone is really making you laugh, hold a pillow against your tummy as that can be a bit tender. Try to not do a ‘sit up’ motion for getting up out of bed so roll onto your side and get up that way so you aren’t putting a strain on your abdominal muscles as you almost feel like you lose all strength from there but it will surprise you how you bounce back.
