Tongue Tie (EBF)

Baby’s tongue tie has been classed as ‘moderate’ but due to no previous problems feeding & good weight gain we were advised there was no need to cut it (assessed at 3 weeks old). The last couple of days baby has been fighting with nipple to latch but gets there eventually (7 weeks old). Is it a phase/fussyness or worth a trip back for advice? Anyone else had this issue?

Omg literally going through this now! My baby is the same 7 weeks Saturday and has become fussy over it and harder to latch on - she does only sometimes though and a midwife said she may be trying to stimulate the nipple to get more nikjb

Speak to a pediatric dentist that specializes in oral ties. There are many issues that can arise from not correcting a tie long term.

Yes, my baby was assessed around 2 weeks by an LC who came to our house. Everything was ok so I didn't want him to have the revision. By 5 or 6 weeks his latch became to chompy that my nipples hurt so bad I was crying during feeds and praying for it to be over. Couldn't do that long term so we had the revision and everything is perfect now. He's way less fussy and gassy too. Didn't even cry after the procedure. If you do it just make sure to do the quick easy exercises very often first few weeks!
