Sleeping through the night

I know not every baby will sleep through the night, but does anyone have any tips or advice on how to encourage them to sleep a little longer? My LO is 3 and a half months. He use to sleep for 8 hours but now he’ll only contact nap during the day for an 1/2 hours (and scream bloody murder if I put him down) but then only sleep 4-6 hours at night. I’ve tried a later bedtime, bath bottle bed, dream feed, nothing changes and he’s just so tired.

@Danielle A warmed bottle of milk with some white noise before bed should do the trick

@Kiera you know what I think you may be right 🥲 I thought it was 4 months onwards but seems like it could be! X

@Danielle they’re all different aren’t they bless them..could be the dreaded 4 month sleep regression you’re going through perhaps? X

@Kiera he was on 7oz before he went on hypoallergenic milk, the. Wasn’t finishing it so back down to 6oz but within the last week we’re back up to 7oz x

@Megan yeah he has a dummy. He’ll fuss a few times & I’ll pop it back in and he’ll go straight back to sleep but once he wakes up and won’t settle, we give him a bottle & that resets the 3hr daytime feed clock!

My 4 month old sleeps 6pm-6am and this started after I upped his feeds to 7oz x

Have you tried a dummy during the night? When my little first wakes up I pop his dummy in and 98% of the time that’s all he wanted and instantly goes back to sleep. He’s been going now 7.30-6.30 most nights at the moment with him only actually wanting a bottle occasionally

@Jahafar we have recently up’d his milk from 6oz to 7oz & he seems pretty happy. Doesn’t always finish it so not going to up it again as it’s just more wastage 😭 might try to up his last feed of the night but again he may not finish it and be in the same boat 🥲🤣

@Emily Timbrell he’ll only nap 1-2 hours during the day but only on my chest. We have tried, dark room, white noise, dummy etc but he’ll just scream and cry relentlessly until you pick him up. He’ll go 3 hours before wanting another feed. We recently up’d his feed from 6oz to 7oz & he seems pretty content. He is on hypoallergenic milk & anti reflux medication so idk if that has anything to do with it. He loves a drive / pram movement but as soon as you stop / get him out he’s crying again. He’s definitely over tired but will only sleep on me.

Is that 4/6 hours in one stretch or 4/6 hours in total at night? If it’s a 4/6 hour stretch this is still really really good for 3.5 months, mine is 4months and usually does a max 5 hour stretch before wanting a feed. if it’s 4/6 hours in total then it might be because he’s overtired from not napping enough in the day? Have you tried naps in the same conditions as night time - dark room, white noise etc? Or for now would a drive in a car or push in a pram get him to nap?

Have u tried increasing his oz during the day? Mine was just like this and I increased his feed to 8oz and he feeds every 4/5 hours during the day and then will go down from around 9pm ish to some days 4.30 am or (if we’re really lucky) 6 ! 😂there are teh odd 3 ams
