Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks Kay.
@Cynthia I didn’t for my 1st pregnancy. But this time, I was wanting to request the same doctor that was on call when I went into labour at the time. I’m not sure how much sense that makes.
@Ann Thanks Ann. I guess I have to start a search on google?
@𝐾𝑎𝑦🇨🇦💚 Did you have to find one that you wanted to be referred to?
@Raba Anum I will. I have an appointment tomorrow and will speak to the doctor about this. Thank you.
I was referred to an OB after my 12 week scan. However, the doctor that accepted my referral doesn’t see his patients until they’re between 24-28 weeks. It depends on your doctor and likely any potential risks. But I’m being followed by my family doctor until I see the OB.
Yes you definitely should, also maybe reach out to your doctor and ask when they’ll refer since your 18-20 week anatomical scan is coming up and you need an Ob by 20 weeks. Alternatively if you’re open to it, look for widwives, it doesn’t have to be an Ob, my experience is that midwives give you more time and attention through the whole process :) all the best to you
Yes absolutely
Not sure if it's different in each province but my family dr in quebec didn't refer me. She said it was up to me to find my own ob. I found a great mom's Facebook group in my area and polled everyone and contacted an ob that was repeatedly recommended. In QC ob appointments start as early as 10 weeks.
