How much formula/breast milk do you give your lo each day?

My daughter usually gets 10 Oz per day usually for dinner, I'm wondering if this is normal or should I slowly start to decrease her formula amount per day she will be turning one on the 15th

26oz a day of formula. Just started mixing in 2oz of cows milk since he’s 2,3 weeks away from 1 (to ease transition) Still cereals for b’fast and dinner w/ purées and “real” (table) food for lunch. Gonna soon switch b’fast/dinner to table good as well. Single mom w/ no help…it’s hard thinking of what to make and making it, and figuring out feeding and taking care of myself and resting..,

My son has 3 - 5 oz bottles now. He eats a lot of food. And yes, pediatrician said this is fine because he’s about to be on cow milk soon.

@Mechelle you’re going to want whole milk for a one year old.

Baby gets about 20 ounces and small amount from breastfeeding overnight. She also eats 3 meals a day and a snack.

last month

28-32 oz a day

My daughter is still getting 3 eight ounce bottles plus 2-3 four ounce bottles per day. Lol

@Mechelle the toddler formula is for if your baby isn’t getting enough from regular milk or can’t have regular milk. I would just keep using the formula and then if your pedi says it’s fine, then you can mix one oz of it at a time with her formula. I honestly haven’t even gotten the ok from my pediatrician, and I’ve been mixing in it with his bottles. I’ve been 2 oz with 3 oz of formula. I’ve done it with one bottle a day for a couple days now and he seems fine! It should be whole vitamin d milk though. 1% doesn’t have all the nutrients in it like whole milk does.

@Leah I do have a couple of samples of toddlers formula should I mix that with her milk? For cows milk we have 1% (from wic) and I'll be calling her pediatrician tomorrow morning to see if I can introduce her to cow's milk slowly

@Mechelle I’m aware of this information. However, my daughters pediatrician said we can start weening her onto cows milk. She will be 1 in literally 7 days. She’s fine. I wouldn’t do something to harm my daughter…

@Mechelle my little baby will be 1 year on the 5th and I still give him a 5 oz bottle every 4 hours. Except at night. I give him his first bottle at like 4am. He can’t drink big bottles due to tummy issues or he will throw it all up. If your girl can handle bigger bottles then I would say she should do like 3 or 4 oz bottles. But don’t push it on her. If she’s not hungry for it then she’s not. But she should still be getting at least 16oz or more a day. But this is something I would talk to your pediatrician about. Maybe she’s just done with it, but if that’s the case then it’s time for cows milk. I’ve also been mixing it in with formula to get his tummy used to it.

@Mechelle I’m not sure why she is only having one bottle right now anyway.. even if she is still eating 3 meals a day, there isn’t enough nutrients in just solids and should still be getting it from formula.. then when your pedi says she can do cows milk it’ll be cows milk with the meals also. I would still be giving her at least 2 more bottles but maybe not 10oz. I would be doing like 3- 6oz bottles. One in the morning, mid afternoon, and then before bed.. but that’s me! I would also ask your pediatrician to make sure she is still growing and healthy and getting everything that her little body needs to grow up big and strong!

Our pediatrician recommended starting her on cows milk not to replace formula & breast milk but to get her belly used to it. So now we do about 1:5 cows milk to formula ratio. She gets around 25 oz per day of milk since she’s really not a big eater. I know milk should be the main source of nutrients until 1 year, but if your baby is getting enough from solid food, I don’t really see the issue. We’re baby led all the way!

I give my almost 1 year old 4-5 bottles a day. Each bottle being 5-7 oz. I recently started adding an once of cows milk to her bottles. I’ll start adding 2 oz tomorrow and working my way up until it’s all cows milk.

So I give my baby at least 3 bottles total a day morning mid day and a night time . Pediatrician recommended that I should not give her more than 24 oz a day so I try not to. So I have one year appointment I will figure out how to win her on to regular whole milk.

@Leah so I should increase her formula Intake then? One in the morning then one at night?

Babies should still be getting at least 16oz-30oz a day. It should still be their main source of nutrition. After a year when they switch to cows milk they should still be getting 20oz a day of that. 5 4oz bottles. One with breakfast lunch dinner and then for 2 snacks. My little guy still gets 18-20oz of formula and 3 meals.
