They tried doing that to me several times, and I had to report them for harrassment
Social worker here. if your baby is in general good health and you had barriers to health care, I don’t believe your child would be removed from your care. You may be encouraged to get your child an exam to make sure they’re well :) I can tell ya that cps doesn’t kidnap children. Children are removed because there is a safety issue or they are being neglected.
@Colette as far as providing proof of life I took her to our chiropractor and had her write proof of life
@Colette nope I just went to the county office and filled out all the necessary paperwork and turned it in when she was born.
I go once a year for a paper trail. Well visits are not mandatory, however medical kidnapping and cps kidnapping is huge. I would go once a a year just to protect yourself. And find a dr on the same page as you. I have three untouched babies and we all go once a year on the same day 🤣
@Amanda just out of curiosity, does that make it difficult to get her necessary documents? (Birth certificate, social security, all that) or is it pretty much the same?
My daughter was birthed unassisted at home and had never seen a doctor
Exactly! I was even denied for pregnancy medicaid. Im in Texas so idk if things are just different here.
I am not approved for medical but my child still is approved to get covered health insurance in Southern CA. It makes no sense they would deny a child from getting healthcare, because they need it. I’m glad your baby has been fine but definitely get that resolved so your kids are covered.
Okay thank you for this! Now that she’s 1 & finally on my work insurance, I will get her one. I just didn’t know if I’d get in “trouble” for waiting this long.
@incognito I just assumed you were stressed because your title is "scared" and you're worried about CPS. But maybe I misunderstood. If you have insurance, Well Child visits should be 100% covered. If you don't, you can call a community clinic and ask for their cash price for just the well child and no vaccinations. We are uninsured and just had to do this. Its a lot more affordable than I would have guessed. The 6m appointment with all of the vaccines was only $70 and they let me do $10/month . I'd imagine without vaccines it would be less. Just thought I'd share that if you tell them ahead of time that you're uninsured (if you are) and want the cash price, it's often a lot less for the child wellness visits than what's billed to insurance.
@Colette well after the first 2 visits actually, I realized I couldn’t afford them, bc im a single mother of 2 with no help from the fathers. I keep getting denied for Medicaid so I just never did. But the wellness visits are pointless bc i took my first to every single one of his & i just didn’t seem it necessary other than the vaccines but i wfh so she’s not in daycare or anything so I just never bothered with stressing about it.
@Keisha thank you!!🥺💚
I mean... Is there a reason your skipping well child visits? You can attend the visit and opt out of vaccination. If you're worried just... Take baby in. Right?

Yah there shouldn't be any reason they're involved!! You're doing great!
@Keisha okay thanks for responding! Im really scared they’d say it’s child neglect or something. But my baby is very healthy. Has only had a cold twice. But now that she’s 1 I plan to get her a pediatrician. 💚

Shouldn't be a reason why they'd get involved. Vaccinating is your choice, unless at that visit the nurses had reason to believe you weren't taking care of you're baby you're fine 🤍
@MarGar there are actually a lot of lawsuits against cps including federal lawsuits for misconduct. CPS has failed at it’s duty to protect children. Not saying all those who represent are bad but the system has failed.
