I called my GP and informed them I was pregnant and asked for next steps as I literally had no clue what to do with this being my first pregnancy. They told me to go on a website called mypregnancynotes.co.uk and fill out all of my information on there such as GP surgery, how many weeks pregnant, age etc and what hospital id like to have my birth at / appointment at, and then got told the midwife that goes to my GP surgery would see my form and get me assigned a midwife from my selected hospital. Mine has all been quite fast which I was surprised with, two days later after filling the form out I got notified that I’ve been assigned a midwife and I have my 1st appointment next Thursday (I’ll be 6w3d) then on the 11th June they’ve booked in my ‘booking In’ appointment at the hospital. I haven’t really had to do much as they’ve booked everything for me. From the comments it sounds like everywhere is different but that’s how I got mine 💗
I self-referred and I’ll be 12 weeks exactly when I have my first midwife appointment. I registered online and got a letter through with my appointment within a few days. Hoping I get my scan before the 14 week cut off 🤞 x
Call your gp back and ask for the midwife team number. Then you can speak to them directly
I'm 6wks and I don't see my midwife untill I'm over 10wks so still ages to go. I wish they would confirm pregnancys sooner but I don't think they do that.
@CeeCee well I rang them back up to tell them to ring my number and all the receptionist said was ‘oh dear’ I just find it funny how a midwife rang the same day I rang the gp but when I give them my number I’m waiting over a week 😂😂😂
They don’t confirm pregnancies anymore in that way because home tests are so accurate. You would be better to contact the local midwives directly. I would put in a complaint about breaching info if they rang your mum instead of you by the way! 😅
I self referred online on Thursday and they called me on Tuesday to book my appointments in x
As soon as I found I was pregnant I called the doctor to tell them and she said self referral to hospital of choice for delivery and that’s also refers to your local midwife I then got a email response back within a week with a appointment date I then got a letter in the post with that appointment and also my first scan date at the hospital.
With a midwife you need to self refer yourself babe, doctors no longer refer you to the doctors xx
@Sophie yeah of course xx
I had to self refer online, usually you type self referral midwife and the are you live and it should appear.
Is it okay Rosie if I pop you a message ? X
We were told to self refer online too! I think it’s quite the common thing to do these days. They said to allow 10 working days for a response but we had one within 4 which was good! Good luck with it all ✨
Hi no, I rang my doctors and the first time they said they would put me on the midwives list and theyd call me but they rang my mom instead and I haven’t told anyone I’m pregnant yet so I rang back and told them to ring my number and they haven’t rang me yet, but the first day I rang and they rang my mom the same day thinking it was me so I’m just not sure if they’ve put me back on the list or not, but thank you I will try to do it online 😊

Hey lovely have you signed up online for the midwife self referral? X
Please don’t ever feel guilty about ringing them loads and asking questions. It’s their job to help and advise you 💗 it’s quite daunting when you don’t know what you’re next steps are so never worry about asking questions 💗✨ I hope you manage to get sorted soon with all of this xxx
