Feeding on demand at night

Hi everyone. Does anyone wake their baby at night for feeds? Or do you feed on demand? And if you are feeding on demand, what does this mean? Do you wait for your baby to cry and wake you up to feed? I’d like to feed on demand but am worried waiting for baby to cry will make her harder to console and soothe. Thanks

My ped told me.once baby was over birth weight to not wake him up, he does wake up every 3-4 hours on his own tho...I got a couple of 5 hours. As long as he is feeding you'd during the day it's okay if they are over their birth weight and peeing/pooping regularly

Yeah, but during the day she wants to eat every hour to 2 hours

@Samantha do you let her feed on demand during the day too?

For the first few weeks I woke my baby up every 3 hours to feed her.(She was born 5lb 10oz and had trouble gaining back her birth weight) But after she started to gain weight properly, I just let her sleep and feed her on demand. And it’s usually 4 hours at night. My Dr. recommended not to let her sleep over 5 hours without feeding.

I don’t wake to feed. She usually doesn’t cry when she does wake up, just stirs around and makes little noises. She’ll sleep 4-5 hours stretches and if she’s sleeping I just let her.

I feed my baby whenever she wakes up, if she goes more than 3 hours I wake her up.
