Car seat replacement after minor accident

So me and my LO were involved in a minor accident, just cosmetic damage to my car. I was stationary, and this idiot tried to overtake me, misjudged the gap and hit the side of my car, he was probably doing 15/20mph. It is drivable but I had 2 car seats in the car. One was the joie 360 ispin and another was a high backed booster seat but I'm not sure of the manufacturer, its a lightning mcqueen one from very and I cant find any information on it yet. So I have no idea if the seats will need replacing after a minor accident. There was no injuries either. Please help, I am getting quite stressed out 😔

Replace even if it’s minor as the impact can affect the structure of the car seat as a few people about have said insurance should Cover it I believe either through money value of car seat or replace like for like!

100% replace them. Doesn’t matter how minor.

I replaced my kids' car seats after a minor accident... It's not worth the risk. I just had someone reverse out of a drive into my car. Got new seats cause I'd rather air things on the safe side xx When you get rid of them cut the straps - it'll prevent others from using them which stops their children being put at risk.. x

Always replace the seat after any sort of impact tension etc because of the risk it won’t hold in a future incident and the child will be injured or worse. 🤍

@Ifeoma the difference is 2 cars colliding is two huge chunks of metal scraping together. the force is much greater than it seems and much more intense than one car going over a bump xx

If you have doubts then don't risk it. Speak to your insurance as they may be covered under that.

I think better safe than sorry, and get them replaced but its interesting to think than a minor knock would affect the integrity of them that much that they need replacing. What about speed bumps and potholes?🤷🏾‍♀️

Thank you, I will get it sorted 😊

Insurance should cover the cost of your car seat or offer you a like for like, just ask them xx

Yes they need replacing

I would strongly recommend replacing them as even a small knock can affect the integrity of the seat. X

Have you tried asking Joie. I have the same seat, and I wouldn't worry about it unless the seat was affected by the accident. Maybe they can take a look at it for you.

Hi yes they will definitely need replacing I’m afraid. I think your insurance should pay out for seats if you let them know. Let me know if you want any recommendations for new seats, as there are only a select number of seats that are actually deemed safe in higher speed crashes. The joie one is a good quality seat, but the very one won’t be x
