Advice please…

Hi, I am new to the area and 12 weeks pregnant! 👶 I live in Shropshire but I am choosing to have my baby at New Cross, so my community midwives come under Telford & Shrewsbury. Did anyone else have any issues with across county care? I had my 12 weeks scan and midwife appointment yesterday and I feel very confused and deflated 😰 This is my second baby, I had my first in Lincoln. If anyone has any experiences they would be happy to share I would love to speak with you as I don’t hold much hope going forward! Thanks xxx

My little one is 13 months, so it's been a while since I was where you are, but... I live in Shropshire and had all my care through Telford & Wrekin/Bridgnorth midwives but went to New Cross for delivery. It was absolutely fine switching over. I think I finally decided at Week 37 (I was low risk but was waiting on something from the Consultant at PRH so I didn't transfer until late when I got that through) that we'd go to New Cross for delivery. What I would say is the care on the MLU and Delivery Suite at New Cross was fantastic but the post-natal ward was utterly horrendous (and a few of my friends who gave birth around the same time had similar issues). My friends who delivered at PRH around that time largely had amazing post-natal experiences. As I say, though, this is going back some time and things will no doubt be different, now. I only made the decision to switch because there wasn't a single MLU open in Shropshire at the time.
