Hospital bag

Sorry for all questions… brain is ticking this weekend… this may sound stupid, but if I have a shower at the hospital and wash my hair do they provide hair dryers or should I pack my holiday one? My hair always has to be dried and doesn’t take long to do

Just commenting because I’m curious to the answer too! Wonder if it’s hospital dependant

@Cecilia yea I mean I know it’s last on our worries after giving birth but I still would like to feel right after a shower if you know what I mean x

I can’t remember seeing a hair dryer when I was in last pregnancy x

Unless you are paying for a private room I wouldnt take one. Other exhausted and recovering mums will not appreciate the extra noise and heat. Take some dry shampoo. All being well you'll only be in 24hrs.

@Vicky I was just wondering if I could do it where the shower facilities was lol, wouldn’t want to disturb anyone else, I’ve never stayed at a hospital in my life so i literally don’t know anything about staying and what’s where x

I only had a shower once after labour there was no where to dry your hair I didnt wash mine I just wanted to get the shower over with quickly and lie back down with baby, I was home the same day and just had a proper shower and washed my hair at home, I would just bring dry shampoo if your worried or just leave it everyone looks like shit after having a baby 😂 xx

@Nia my hair is literally the worst gets greasy so quick have to wash it every day, my boyfriend finds it funny how bad it looks in the morning, I will get some blonde dry shampoo x

@Trudie yea, I was just saying. Not having a go. 👍🙂

@Vicky ahh no I didn’t think that 🥰

@Trudie ye I would get some dry shampoo if it gets greasy quick mine was awful after labour lots of sweating but I really didn't care I just gave it a good wash when I got home, mine is like hagrid if I wash it and let it dry naturally 😂 I'm going to bring shampoo just incase it's a longer stay this time x

@Trudie I relate, don’t worry. I’ve seen some people list hair dryer out on their hospital bag list so must be a common enough question for people to list in on there! Like you, this is my first baby. I might take one just incase I do end up in there for a week for whatever reason, but then can assess situation once there. Obviously wouldn’t want to upset other mothers and babies xx

Definitely take your own. We need to feel some kind of human after pushing are babies out. An amazing yet exhausting experience x x

I think a lot of hospital lists with hairdryers on are from US mums. I think most other countries ie US, CA, AU all have private rooms (private healthcare?) And tend to stay longer in hospital after birth than we do (a few days atleast as opposed to one in UK)
