Anyone else still doing purées only?

I’ve tried BLW but it just terrifies me & my LB seems to prefer purées. Just wondering if I’m not the only one 🫠

Have you considered breaking bits off and putting it into babies mouth so you can control the size for now rather than them shoving it all in x

We’re only offering purées including ready Brek with oat milk and offering those carrot puffs which he loves.

@Kiera that actually increases the choking risk for baby! studies have shown that choking risk decreases when baby puts food into their own mouth. OP I would really recommend having a look on the Solid Starts instagram and website they have loads of really helpful information!

@Emilie oh really! I had these anxiety’s at first as he shoved a whole sweet potato in his mouth and choked. Could you send me the study please so I can have a read, all the ones I’ve found say there is no increased risk xx

My little girl is the exact same with her its the texture that she don’t like she will eat sweet things like chocolate or biscuits but she won’t eat normal meals she won’t even pick the food up x

🙋🏽‍♀️We were gonna do a mix of purées and BLW for my first - husband wanted to do BLW but he worked big hours & I was TERRIFIED - had recurring dream of her choking when weaning when I was pregnant with her. The first purée I gave her was carrot and I gave her a cooked carrot baton too and she gummed off a centimetre & I FREAKED and as soon as she pushed it out to lip I wiped it off and took it away🙈I’ve since learned that’s normal but I cut BLW unless I had someone with me after that. I had a million Annabel Karmel books that I’ve since given away before having my second🙈so I’ve been doing them (I’d saved eldest’s first 100 foods) so just doing that & then we moved on to What Mommy Makes book & one of the Ella’s Kitchen books (the red one to be exact).

There’s a good page on fb called Baby led weaning for beginners that’s really helpful and full of info and as someone else said the Solid starts app is great

I’ve been doing a mixture, he’s literally putting everything in his mouth. I’m still terrified everytime he shoves everything in his mouth but I can also see he enjoys it.

I was like this until a few weeks ago. I was so scared. Then I felt bad she was missing out so I took a deep breath and watched loads of first aid choking videos. Looked at videos and tik toks and I told myself at lunch time when it’s just me and her as bf and son at work and school i would try one thing a day for a week and see how we get on. I picked Just easy ones like scrambled eggs, avocado, banana and soft things and she was amazing! So since then I still blend her food but any bits she can have as finger food we do that too! Tonight for tea we had chicken curry so I put extra veg in hers and blended it up but I also gave her some egg fried rice to eat herself. She had boiled egg toast and avocado strips for breakfast with my 10yo. 🤍

@Sophie is not give her any sweet thigns for a while and she will start to eat the veg and healthier things and then can offer small amount of sweet things xx
