When and who do I call??

My baby is 5 weeks old and hasn't done a poo in 2 days, just farting a lot and looks uncomfortable doing it. She is fed both with formula and breast. Do I contact 111 or my community midwife and at what point??

We have had that and ours is formula and breast too. We have fed 1 ounce of cooled boiled water and waited for it to do it's magic and maybe combine with a bath at some point aswell. Has helped our boy a couple of times. Normally by day two he poops and the process starts again!

My 7 week old boy has had this a couple of times where he doesn’t poo for a couple days then will all the sudden poo a lot. He is fed a mix of breast and formula too. I saw a paediatric nurse recently for a different issue but mentioned this and she explained that it’s quite normal with combination feeding, their bowel movements can be a bit less predictable and more random

My 5 week old was the same and I was advised by health visitor that the doctor wouldn’t see her until she had 5 consecutive days of no poop. After 5 very long days we were given movicol and that has worked wonders!

When my daughter is like that we give her 1oz of cool boiled water, a warm bath and a tummy massage and then she normally poops about an hour later x

Massage babies feet. Works every time for me. Also try colief 👌🏼

Our baby didn’t poop for a week we rang the health visitor and they said nothing to worry about until 10 days. She eventually went a lot and she was all good! Nothing to worry about just yet I don’t think. Xx

Try some bicycle kicks, massage the tummy and some nappy free time. If not, try calling your HV or GP to see what they suggest xx
