Feeding baby

Hi all so my baby just turned 10 months and he's currently on 7+months baby food pouches I was on maternity and now that's ended and I can't afford to be buying pouches constantly is there anything I can feed him or any recipes I can try out he hates meat but anything else is he just won't eat red meat or lamb steak or anything like that but chicken he's ok with he has 6 teeth but only uses them if he really like the food otherwise he just swallows without chewing especially when he's hungry so I have to be so careful but baby food on top of all his other expenses plus mine is such a struggle I'm barely making ends meet after paying all the bills and have no support any suggestions would be so appreciate I'm really desperate either way he will get fed through breastmilk but I don't want to knock him back a few steps it took forever to get him in a routine of eating the two meals and if I stop I will have to start all over again I'm trying to potty train him so I can cut down on the nappies and wipes

Pouches are littreally so expensive and so pointless. You can littreally just fed him what you eat. Mash it up or give it to him as finger foods. Just don't add salt to his food. So if your cooking chicken and veg just give him the same. X

Also if your are struggling you can get support from food banks..they will give your food..nappies wipes etc. Also you can get food vouchers for milk and fruit veg etc I will attach how you apply x

Heinz do a good baby pasta which is really small pieces if you wanted to try that if you’re not comfortable giving him what you’re having. Some really quick and easy meals are pasta with tomato puree and Philadelphia, or pasta with any puréed veg (which I keep in ice cube tray in the freezer) with Philadelphia. Dried basil or garlic adds more flavour. Batch cooking puréed veg is a good idea as then you can mix and match stuff easily. My son loved sweet potato - I just roasted them, ate the skins myself and gave him some for one meal and put the rest in the freezer. I gave him this the other night with some cooked chicken mixed in. Omlette or scrambled egg with toast is a good cheap tea too

My boy is 9.5 months old and is eating 3 meals and an afternoon snack each day, along with BF on demand. We have been following the guidelines and recipes in this book (plus adding some of my own recipes too). It is a great book and is 95% easy recipes 5% explanation about how baby led feeding works. I have literally never purchased a single baby food pouch, ever. I make everything from scratch at home so I know exactly what is going into my babies body and can try to give him the most balanced diet with all necessary nutrients that I can. I still give him a half dose of a liquid baby multivitamin each day just to be sure he isn't deficient. Baby-Led Feeding: A Natural Way to Raise Happy, Independent Eaters https://a.co/d/ddp3kgk If your baby is not eating red meat you definitely need to be supplementing with multivitamin, if he isn't eating a fortified baby cereal daily he will need iron supplement in the vitamin as well. I will post two good baby vitamins one with iron and one without iron.

Just try adapting the food you eat, saves so much money. At that age they should be able to each finger foods even without teeth. Just do the squish test (if you can squish it between your fingers baby should be ok with it) and ensure things are cut into finger shapes and avoid round things. Give it a go. Do some research on baby led weaning. But yeah defo don’t be buying additional baby food, expensive and doesn’t offer good enough nutritional value at that age. Good luck XX
