Weaning

My little one has just turned 6 months and I’m so nervous about weaning, she was showing all signs of wanting to eat, super interested in our food when we eat! But I’ve so far tried the carrot melty puffs and some creamy porridge from C&G but she just now doesn’t seem interested! I tried to spoon feed the porridge but also let her use the spoon herself and with the melty puffs I pour a couple on her plate but she just doesn’t care for them! We give her food both when we’re eating and when we’re not just to try and mix it up and see if anything works! I was nervous about choking so my initially plan was to do purées but she just doesn’t seem to be bothered? Is there a best time do feed/way to feed im such a newbie to this & just want to get it right for her!

Following Everything you just typed, I'm going through the same thing so would like some advice too I'm so confused. My LG was showing all signs too but now seems more interested in her highchair than her food 🤷🏻‍♀️

We started weaning about a week ago now. My little boy started exactly the same but is already showing a little more interest in food. At first he was more interested in the pattern in his bib than the food in front of him. When I spoke to others about it they just said to give it time and he has slowly picked up his food or taken what we have spoon fed him. We are doing a combination of purées and baby led weaning. Just take your time - it will come 😊

@Nikki thank you! I definitely needed to hear this, I feel like I just expected her to take to it and eat things! it’s so easy to compare yourself against other mums and then just feel guilty that I’m not doing it right!🤦🏼‍♀️ we shall persevere! going for some toast fingers and mashed banana this morning I think as my partners home so will be another person to ease my nerves!

Hiya, have you tried just a couple of spoons of just one single fruit or veg a day if purée is what you are choosing. Maybe a bit more flavour might spark her interest a bit more? Rather than porridge because it can be a bit bland. I know people say after the afternoon bottle is a good place to start but I think it is more down to your routine. If she really isn’t interested I would just put a pause for a little while you don’t want to force it and then her create an aversion. You are doing great though! We have found this one of the most stressful stages of having a baby so far 😂 so easy to second guess yourself! x

It’s all trial and error and remember there is no ‘right way’ of doing it. Just whatever works best for you!! 😊
