My son had reflux, tummy, and hiccup issues as a tiny guy. I had to burp him every ounce until he was a little older then I'd burp him every couple of ounces, then halfway through, then not at all once he could move around more. Maybe that would help him pace himself and make you feel confident you aren't over feeding. My Dr said a feed should last around 20 minutes or more around that age.

Over feeding!

No you are fine the baby will let you know when he doesn't want anymore my son also breastfeed on both sides and 20-30 later he wanted more the go threw eating spells they want more them other times want a little my son at more then our girls besides our bigger girl when she was born she was 8lb 12 oz

Way too much for that age.

My son was drinking 6oz at 4 weeks and is perfectly fine. Some are just more hungry than others

If he’s spitting up a lot (5 ml or more) cut it back half an ounce at a time until it gets less and you will find the sweet spot. My LO was the same way. Loves his food but doesn’t know his limits lol.

My health visitor said they drink about half their weight so if they’re about 12lbs they’ll have 6oz but if bubs didn’t need or want it he wouldn’t drink it x

If you’re baby is drinking it, and not vomiting it up in large amounts (some spit up is totally normal) then go for it. They must be hungry!! Every baby is different, and you might find they need it now, but then settle for smaller amounts after a growth spurt. Make sure you’re pace feeding, and if your baby still takes that much then I wouldn’t worry lovely x

@Jessive she said 4 weeks, not 4 months or else I wouldn’t think it could be too much either! 4 months seems normal for 4 ozs

Daughter is 3 weeks old and the pediatrician told me she's happy if she at least has 2 ounces per feed. She normally drinks 3, but sometimes does 4. Then she also has moments where she'll wake up shortly after falling asleep and want to eat again so I'll just fix 1 or 2 ounces at a time to see where she stops. Since I know when she does that she won't take a whole 3 ounces again that close together.

My son would drink 6oz at 4 weeks also! It is a lot, but you are not over feeding. If it was too much for him, he wouldn’t be finishing the bottle. He’s just going to be a big boy -tall

I think mine was having 4-5 oz at a time and the pediatrician didn’t seem concerned

Your baby will let you know when they’re too full. Most of the time, my son would just stop eating and totally stop taking the bottle when he was full. When he got older, we upped him to 7oz and he would spit up every time so we knew we needed to stay at 6oz. We have to feed him a little more often now that he’s 10 months, but he has taken 6oz since he was 5-6 weeks I would say. Every baby is different, so just take note!! If you’re baby isn’t giving you signs that you’re over feeding him, then you’re probably fine.

Are feeding him the right amount then continue to do that! I’m sure you will figure it out soonšŸ™‚

That does seem like quite a bit but every baby is different! I’d start off giving him 4 oz and see how he reacts…it also depends on how often he’s feeding and how long the feed is…I’d try giving him smaller bottles but more often….my baby never nurses for a long time but she was eating every 2 hours like clockwork…so it would make sense for your son to eat more but say every 4 hours…and if he’s sleeping long stretches at night it’s also normal for Him to eat more in the day to make up for the time he spends sleeping which was also how my babygirl was ! I’d burp him well half way through the bottle and at the end then try a paci to see if it’s Just because he wants to suckle ..if he’s also throwing up every time, and it’s a good amount then he’s he’s over eating! But at the end of the day, you are his mommy and you know best! So don’t take any of our advice to strongly about feeding less or anything else if you don’t feel in your heart that’s what best for him….if you think you

That sounds like a lot. Go down to 4oz and then if baby still wants more, give 1 more ounce and see

@Brielle thank you girl fr!ā¤ļø if she has anymore tips for you just let me know also šŸ˜«šŸ˜‚

That is a lot. My 1 year old was only drinking 4oz, 5oz max, at a time.

@Taylor I would start at 3 oz and if he seems unsatisfied then give him an oz more. Newborns like to suck. So they will take a bottle or boob even when they aren’t hungry. Does he take a pacifier? Try to offer a pacifier after feeding to see if that’s settles him. All babies spit up but if they are spitting up right after a feeding then it’s probably too much. If you are giving breastmilk then most babies don’t need over 5 oz.

@Taylor a tiny bit of spit up is normal every once in a while, but if it’s a ton of spit up every single time then I’d say you’re probably over feeding just a little bit.

@Taylor don’t feel bad at all! Your baby will let you know. Some other cues that they are getting full is that their hands will loosen, if they are still balled up in a fist they are still hungry. Maybe cut back on an oz at first and see what happens, or burp more often, like after every other ounce. Trust yourself though, you’re doing a great job love. I’m a first time momma too but just an advantage when your sister is a NICU nurse who also has a newbornšŸ«¶šŸ»

@Gabrielle thank you! I’ll definitely trying cutting it down to 4 and see how that goes but when he did drink 4oz, he’d still cry and fuss like he’s hungry. šŸ˜–

@Haley I know I’m sure I am giving him too muchšŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

@Brielle okay he does spit up a little so I probably am šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜–

Mine is 2 weeks and downing 4. Doctor said as long as he’s not spitting up a ton and milk dripping from his mouth after feeding then just to let him eat.

That definitely seems like a lot but every baby is different. Their tummies are soooo tiny for a while so I would try to get like 2-3 oz and see what baby does. And distract. Play with baby do other things with baby. Give a pacifier or something and see what they do. If they’re still super cranky and acting hungry then give a couple more oz. But if you constantly feed a baby more you can stretch their stomachs which isn’t the greatest. My 15 month old had been doing 6 oz since idk 10 months. So that definitely sounds like a ton for a month old. But again every baby is different but I’d try to go down first and distract

That’s a lot!
