Asians and Indians and infertility

This is by no means meant to be about xenophobia, but I’m genuinely curious if there’s a scientific explanation. I notice when I’ve been going to my fertility clinic for routine appts as well as all my IVF monitoring, the waiting room is always filled with Asian and Indian couples and I’ve only seen a handful of Caucasian women/couples in the past 3 months that I’ve been at this clinic. My thinking was there might be a genetic aspect to infertility as these cultures tend to marry within the same race so there’s not much genetic diversity, but I don’t know. I’ll also note that I live in Silicon Valley, and maybe it’s just that there’s a large proportion of these individuals that work in tech. So maybe it’s not even about genetics and more about local demographics. I’ll note that I’m of Asian descent, though my father is Japanese and my mother is German. And my husband is of Italian and Native American descent so we’re both mutts.

It’s all based on money, who got more money can afford fertility treatments. No doctor out here giving away free fertility treatments for struggling households, that don’t make sense

And you don’t gotta be infertile to receive fertility treatment. There’s so much they have to offer other than shots in the ass

@Natalia, what religion are you referring to?

How come when white people only marry white people it’s ‘personal taste’ but with us it’s genetic inbreeding? Come on dude do better

@Natalia south Asians don’t just have one religion and also, I think every religion says to procreate after marriage 😂

It's probably a combination of things but most likely the demographic of your area. Who in your area has the time and means. Also certain cultures are also more likely to have kids during younger more fertile years while others will wait. I don't think it's genetic necessarily.

@Natalia, I'm South Asian and Muslim - my religion also teaches me to have children after marriage. I'm not really sure why you'd single out Hinduism. I do, however, think it's more to do with financial ability when undertaking fertility treatment. Some cultures might wish to wait longer before seeking help with fertility issues whilst others seek help sooner.
