I didn’t go to the chill clinic but was offered it as I was planning to have my baby there before we opted for a home birth and my understanding is that you can go in for a few hours and the midwife’s will answer any queries you have regarding breast feeding. They’ll monitor the latch etc and if they think you need guidance they’ll assist but with a hands off approach x

What is a chill clinic? I thought Cosham birthing centre was shut?
Yes I went to the chill clinic 2 days overdue. I had 2nd sweep, shoulders, leg, hand and arms massage. You can choose what oil they use and you can take it home - I had the jasmine, frankincense and lavender one and added it to all of my baths 🛁 The rooms are lovely, very relaxing and comfortable. I really think all depends on if baby is ready or not though! I had 4 sweeps after this and was born after induction at 11 days over 😰 But yes would definitely recommend.. I mean why not! Treat yourself 🥰
Thanks everyone! It was a really lovely experience 🥰 I had a midwife called Alison and she was a dream, so welcoming and completely made me feel relaxed. She did acupressure and a massage and talked through lots of great information about induction etc. If you get a chance to go I’d highly recommend! All the staff were absolutely lovely too ☺️

@Chloe I don’t think they are open for births yet! They are open for everything else but births as southmead are short staffed so are having to send their midwife’s there. They were hoping to be open for births this summer but midwife said it doesn’t look hopeful I’ve opted for a home water birth now after having my first child at cossham x
I went there in March and they gave me foot and back massage with some essential oils and I didn’t think anything of it back then but weirdly my contractions started next day 😄I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not but I was quite overdue already 41+4 I believe.
@Taylor ah ok thanks or clearing that up. So the chill clinic is still open? Confused? Xx
@Chloe they are open for everything else but the actual births at the minute, hopefully by the end of summer they’ll be open fully again x
Cheers. Does anyone know if Southmead have a chill clinic? Just looked on their website but it doesn’t say….
Hey, not sure what the chill clinic is but I’ve had multiple appointments at cossham maternity unit as well as giving birth to my son there 😊 I’ve also had aftercare with my son there for his checkups which were all lovely! I’m pregnant again and have had my first midwife appointment there and then will have my glucose test there this Monday coming! Every time they are lovely and a lot more personal than southmead x
