Waiting for induction call at Royal Berkshire

Anyone been there recently and can tell me their experience? I'm booked in for induction today with first baby, 40+1 weeks late and ready to meet this baby. Medium sized suitcase packed with extras as per suggestions from the posts on this app and I'm so ready. What should I expect? All my friends recommended I go for all the drugs available as induction hurts more, I'm going for gas and epidural as last resort and don't mind what happens on the day if I end up with C section. What was your experience like at Royal Berkshire?

Hey, bit of a long one but see below 😊

Very good experience at RBH the staff are nice

I wasn’t induced recently, but I’ve had 2 inductions at RBH, most recent was August 2020. Both were pleasant experiences, didn’t have anything to compare to though as all my births have been at RBH. I know a lot of people say the care there is awful but I’ve never had a bad experience…. Even during the thick of covid, the staff were lovely, very helpful if you needed anything etc. Not sure if it’s still the same, but if you’re planning on formula feeding, you’ll have to bring your own as they don’t supply (at least they didn’t in Aug ‘20) but there are facilities to sterilise bottles, and I think they had pre-packed disposable bottles and teats too. Good luck, it can be a slow experience so make sure you have snacks, iPad and charger etc 😊 x

Good luck how exciting and come back tell how it went. You be fine and please get them to check if you need to push or your feel head. They check like every 4hrs because of infection okay. Don't mind the doctors or other midwives who come in when your in full labour. They drove me up the wall coming in wrong time lol. Saying that staff are amazing.

I was induced around 2 months ago, the induction ward was super quiet and the midwifes etc were all lovely and caring. Take lots of fhings to do like a laptop for films or a book etc.l since you can be there a while. Had a balloon put in to help and they gave me codine to help with the pain. Shouldnt need too much pain relief before your waters are broken hopefully 🤞🏻 I opted only for gas and air after my waters were broken and an injection of morphine Hope it all goes well for you and you get to meet your LO soon! xx

I had the drip for my induction at RBH, was really positive - used tens machine, gas and air (really helped with my breathing) and some extra pain relief just before I gave birth. I had some bits to watch and music to listen to. Staff were amazing!

RBH was definitely amazing! i went into labour naturally at 40+5 weeks and the midwifes i had where brilliant at keeping calm and helping me through each contraction. When my LO was born after 45 mins of pushing he had his cord around his neck 3 times. My midwife however was so discreet with unraveling it that i didnt even know until hours later when my birthing partner told me. Personally i am definitely going to have any future babies there as it was just such a positive experience x

Thanks ladies, lovely to hear all your experiences. At RBH now. Midwife is lovely. Just been induced myself with baloon and loving the gas ⛽🎈 🤪
