Advice Please UK

I’m 36 coming up to 37 and my husband and I have been trying for 6 months for our second baby with no success. I really thought I was pregnant this cycle as my luteal phase has not been longer than 11 days since my periods returned 6 months ago (21 month old daughter) but it’s was 15 days and I was getting a few symptoms plus faint blue lines on clear blue early tests but AF arrived today 😢 I still breastfeed my daughter in the evenings and my cycles are a little varied in length. This month is 36 days and last month was 27… no idea what my body is doing 🤦🏼‍♀️ Was thinking of speaking to doctors to ask for help but wondered what advice anyone had or what the doctors do?

I’m in a similar boat. Been trying for 6 months, and will be 36 in august. My OB said my luteal phases are “wonky” and go from 8-12 days which is off. She also thinks my cycle days are off too. She said it could just be aging. She suggests clomid at 6 months, which we will try in august. Also, to be sure, she sent us to have a semen analysis, even though we have 3 already. It could be that phases just become a bit off with age. She said clomid fixes a lot of this and will boost chances. Clearblue also gave me major false hope with a faint positive. I wouldn’t trust it and instead stick with first response!

Thank you, hopefully I can get some answers or help xx

Have you considered stopping breastfeeding? That’s what most specialists will tell you (in my experience)

I have but I don’t feel that is the reason. She only feeds at night normally and I enjoy that time with her so reluctant to give it up unless it’s absolutely necessary. X

My consultant said that it’s unlikely for women’s cycles to return to normal/ optimum within less than 4 months of stopping. For some women, the b-feeding acts like a sort of contraception (not guaranteed!) Stopping has to be a total stop though…😟

Ah ok, that’s interesting. I have been tracking my ovulation and get the peaks as you’d normally expect but I guess that doesn’t exactly mean I’ve ovulated.
