As long as it's heated it's safe
My dr said it was fine
Agree with Erika. Even if it’s not heated up, good quality meat is fine. Think about how often you’ve ever been food poisoned from deli meat before too….those are your odds. It’s very rare and highly unlikely if it’s good quality meat.
I ate deli meat all throughout my pregnancy. You are just as likely to get listeria from veggies or even ice cream.
Listeria is the biggest risk in the 3rd trimester. If you’re earlier than that, might be worth the risk for you. For me - not worth it at any point. Also the nitrates!
I eat deli meat all the time , I just think I’d rather eat something then nothing and sometimes a ham sandwich is all I can stomach🤢
My dad makes biltong- delicious. We were in the middle of no where after hours and that was all the food. It’s in our dna to want to rip through meats. BUT I resisted!
How far does deli meats go. I read no sausages!
@Mya nitrates are a concern but listeria can cause miscarriage. Listeria is killed when heated
I did 🫣
@Jane MAKES IT? I’ve never been so jealous
I do and I have it. Then my craving is over. Just have it. Its better than stressing over it. It's difficult to eat as it is, there's only so much I can restrict myself.
I think the only time I've had deli meat in the past like 5 years has been when I'm pregnant. The risk of food poisoning is so small so I don't see a problem with eating it while pregnant.
Also eaten it throughout pregnancy with no problems! X

you can eat deli meat while pregnant. they tell you that so your cautious. listeria is the reason they tell you this. but listeria is rare in general, and very rare in pregnancy. they just tell you to eat it from a reputable place or to make it yourself. plus you can get listeria from fruits and veggies if they aren’t cleaned properly. i ate ham sandwiches daily when i was pregnant. especially in my 3rd trimester i had the biggest craving as long as the meat is stored properly, before the expiration date, and has no signs of going bad like smell or being slimy, it is fine to eat
I eat it just not often
I eat peppered salami all the time!
My Dr told me turkey breast and bologna is safe unheated. The only risk with deli meats is the risk of a bacteria called listeria
All I want is an Italian sub
Buy something like AppleGate Natural organic turkey breast. I loved that during my pregnancy. So long as you’re eating good quality, real meat, and you’re not crap from Subway, it’s a great way to get your protein.
