Big and small babies & induction

One of the very common reasons for induction is a suspected large or small baby... but how evidence based is the recommendation to get baby out sooner? I go through the reasons, the risks and the research... https://www.instagram.com/p/Cu2KfScoERE/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Were you told you were having a big or small baby? Were they as big or small as suspected? Leave a comment below! #bigbaby #SGA #smallgestationalage #smallbaby #induction

Suspected big, came out big. He was exactly the weight they predicted for the gestation! Sadly didn’t choose to be induced and resulted in emergency c section as he was just too big for my body. He was 9lb10oz☺️

I was told both my babies would be big, and my second was consistently measuring 2 weeks ahead basically the whole pregnancy. They were 7lb 7oz and 8lb 4oz at birth, so definitely nothing crazy. I was offered an induction with my first but went into labor naturally before I decided whether to do it, and was induced for unrelated reasons with my second.

I’ve only had one baby and while they never scheduled an induction originally I went in because I thought my water broke (apparently it didn’t) at 40 weeks and two days. They would not let me leave without an induction because I had preeclampsia. my baby was born three days later at 8 lbs. 1 oz. and although she was born naturally, they would have done a C-section although they already had another woman doing a C-section at the same time that they realized the induction wasn’t working. I was only told after the fact of giving birth that it should’ve been a C-section at a certain point but they couldn’t do so because the doctors and nurses were helping someone else. My daughter was born, not breathing on her own and her shoulder was stuck. But after getting her out, she failed her initial Apgar test score but they got her breathing and she is now such a happy six month old and Chunky.

Suspected small - static growth. Induced at 37 weeks. Complications. He was born 2.6kg which is not that small.. always wondering if it would have been better to let him grow till 40 weeks and come out when he wanted to… 🥺

My first was born 5”4lb and not once through my whole pregnancy has anyone ever said she was “small”, hell I am petite myself so people just assumed like mama like baby 💁🏻‍♀️😂 she was born spontaneous at 39w weighing only 5”4. Not a word from anyone 💁🏻‍♀️ midwives said she’s strong and healthy.

@Kellie That sounds lovely! As i’m petite too, wish i had this experience 💜
