Daycare sends home for diaper rash?

Is this normal? Yes it's gotten bad this morning but it's still diaper rash. First time mom. I think she's allergic to the cream, I'm not sure. Sometimes the diaper rash cream seems to make things worse. But do all/most daycares do this?

Not usually unless they suspect it needs medical attention but they should have told you this when you picked LO up x

If it's a staff infection, the cream will make it worse.. best thing is for the skin to breath. What cream are you using? And the diapers or wipes may be contributing to the rash as well... you may wanna go up a size to provide extra air flow!!!

That’s so bizarre the only time we ever send a child home with a rash is if we had confirmed cases of hand foot mouth and they had spots in other places. Check your handbook and see if anything is mentioned in it about rashes. Most are not contagious. What cream are you using? It could be an allergy or just too harsh

Check cream and diapers. If you can, make the swap to Honest or a brand without bleach/VOCs. Same thing with wipes! My kid has only had a diaper rash once and it was because we changed diaper brand. As for creams, I’d stick with plain Vaseline a thin layer on dry skin in between changes. If it’s very red, I’d let it air out for a bit. Definitely contact doctor if it’s not getting better! Good luck! I hope they feel better soon!

It could also be a fungal diaper rash. That would do better with something other than zinc oxide or Vaseline, an antifungal.

My baby had a HORRIBLE rash that turned out to be a yeast infection bc her grandma put her diapers on too tight too often when watching her. If there’s tiny bumps or any “white” then you can go in to get anti-fungal cream. It clears it up so fast! Regular diaper cream made it so much worse
