Early pregnancy unit Broomfield Chelmsford

I would like to know other people experiences at this unit as I found it to be beyond terrible. No one in the unit speaks to you, cares about anything you have to say or symptoms you speak about, they just rush you through as little obs as possible and chuck you out the door and that's after having to be referred via A&E which takes 6hrs as it is. Even with the worst complications they did not care and the doctors kept calling me back in for scans and obs that never took place, only to be asked to come in 2 days later (for the same thing to happen). Quite frankly I will never go there again and am being referred elsewhere. The doctor had no compassion bedside manner, they don't look at you when speaking to you and the doctor even had the audacity to say "thats not my problem" to everything I had to say and trust me when I say I was there for the most serious of complaints.

I had Absolutely horrific experience here! They need looking into! I heard same thing from lots of people. The stuff they done to me was unbelievable so I transferred to another x

Omg I'm sorry to hear you went through what you did. I am complaining through the applicable channels but who's knows what will happen. You have eased my anger as knowing you are not the only one, albeit that is terrible in its own right does help. I dont feel so insane as was honestly thinking who the hell goes through this and sticks around. It amazes me that they are even open x

I’ve not had great experience with the early pregnancy unit in the past BUT with both my children I have to say the Day Assessment Unit, Labour Ward and Postnatal ward have been amazing and cannot fault their care! X

I also had a horrible experience at Broomfield’s EPU—I went in for bleeding, had an exam and was told I was likely miscarrying (all with zero bedside manner, told to me like it was the weather report) and then later that same evening I had a call from the doctor saying he thought he may have been wrong and to come back in for an ultrasound. 2-weeks later and I’m still unsure what is going on. I hate it there. Is Springfield Hospital better? How does one get referred out of Broomfield? I’m American and we just moved here in March and I’m so lost!

I am in the same boat as you. Have no idea how to get referred out. I'm going to call colchester and see what they say. Been chasing an internal scan and come in 3 times totalling about 20hrs in the hospital and all they have done is bloods and the first internal which needed a follow up. The doctor is the one that kept booking the scan, it takes me 1.5hrs to get there and then they send me home again bloods only, no compassion or bedside manner. They told me come back in 48hrs for a bloods follow up, ignored me when I asked what they will compare it to as haven't done bloods this visit and they were adamant it had to be a 48hrs comparison. Like talking to a brick wall. They could care less. They just sent me home when I went back to the waiting room.

I was admitted when I had very bad sickness in early pregnancy and they took care of me, I don’t really have anything bad to say about them. Sorry you had a rough time there 🥹🥹

Is this a hospital in CT?

If so you might want to look into Baystate Hospital in Springfield, Mass not too far away and they have a great Section in the hospital specifically for Labor and Delivery and Emergency Prenatal care.

I had a really bad experience with this unit at the beginning luckily I had my partner with me as they left empty drips in my arms for hours didn’t offer me a drink or anything to eat and we was there for about 12 hours due to me being dehydrated and having sickness just get past that first bit then it gets better I promise the rest of my experience with the DAU when your past 17 weeks has been amazing they have been lovely and super helpful, you got this but don’t be afraid to speak up to them either sometimes they need it! (Not that you should have to) x x

I did speak up and the doctor hung up on me. Will never go back there again, the things he was saying to me were disgusting
