Is information power?

What does that mean to you? I was recently texting a school librarian and asked about the ban of books as information in relation to the development of children. What say you?

While I was told it was not okay for a school to provide books asking children what gender they wanted to be…I had to reply that as an educator we had to question was this really happening in the schools. I shared providing information (as all schools do) is different that asking very personal questions or telling parents what to do. I had to state that I really doubted these were the conversations in an elementary school…high school maybe but primary school those kids repeat what they hear. Thoughts?

Well, I just had an interesting conversation with a family member here in California. I was told a school 🏫 board meeting did not go well here.

Can we control what is public, private or maybe neither? In my opinion each parent must do what is right for their own child but not take responsibility for the choices other parents make for their children. Freedom to chose, says the veteran in me, is everything. We’ve had to fight to keep our freedoms as the battles continue.
