I'm only getting an ultra sound on week 32 because my placenta has a fold and Dr asked me if I wanted one.
Yeah unfortunately unless you are classed as high risk 20 week scan is the last one you will get unless you want to pay for private scans yourself, its the same anywhere. During your midwife appointments they should measure your bump anyway so you get an idea how big baby is
Very common
@Meghan sure is coz all they do in vital signs and listen to heart beat. Either way am grateful to be healthy 🙏. Can’t wait to see him in few weeks
Thank you ladies for great information, am grateful to healthy and hopeful my anxiety will go down next few weeks, we getting there.
I read recently that appointments for uncomplicated pregnancies are boring . Trying to be grateful for my boring appointments, even though I’d love another view inside.
My OB does the same however I did get a growth ultrasound because when he measured my belly I was measuring big so he requested one. I also went and had a private one done too
If you haven’t felt your baby move as much they may do a scan to check on your baby. I have a anterior placenta and had a scan done to make sure he was okay because I couldn’t feel his movements as much
I found a study that gives me ultrasounds every 2 weeks and it helped my anxiety soo much. I started at 18wks and this week I get my 32 wk one. I’m obsessed with seeing my babes and actually miss him before the next ultrasound. Ask about studies in your area. They are a blessing!
Definitely normal. You'll have to find a place that does private and pay out of pocket for it. They maybe could schedule one for you depending on their regulations but you'll be responsible for the whole fee as insurance won't allow it with you having no issues. My anatomy scan at 21 weeks showed my boy is measuring 2 weeks ahead on growth and I don't even qualify for extra scans
I also haven’t gotten an ultrasound at my OB after my anatomy scan at 20w. I only get them through my specialty doctor because my baby has fluid in his kidneys. I got again October 9th and I’m not sure if/when after that
I will probably have my last one at this next appointment and only because I'm with a genetics doctor as well as my Ob. The genetics doc does one every time I see him
I also haven't had an ultrasound since 20 weeks and I'm now 32. I believe I'm getting one at 36, but like others have mentioned if you have a healthy, low-risk pregnancy, it's normal to not get them (albeit frustrating at times).
Oh I haven’t heard this! I’m in 3rd trimester and getting one once a month. The only thing considered “high risk” is my age - im 35

I get a ultrasound every month now that I’m in my third trimester
Keep in mind that the science is just not there to accurately measure baby’s growth. It can be off by as much as 2 full pounds.
Yep super common for low risk pregnancies. I’d suggest looking up a local private scan place as well.
Same happened to me. I chose to go to a private clinic that does 3D and 4D ultrasound and got my growth info there! And pics are a bonus of course!
I would call the office and tell the receptionist to leave a note for the doctor before the appointment so at the upcoming appointment you can get a growth scan on top of other things that are being handled
Well in Canada the one at 20 weeks is not mandatory but the one in the 3rd semester is mandatory to not if the baby is well positioned and everything...
