Fertility Appointment SUCKED

Firstly my doctor said she was all over the place due to just returning from MATERNITY LEAVE after I had explained our miscarriages! Secondly, she said I need blood tests on specific days of my cycle so when I went to book them…they have no blood test slots available on the cycle days I need to have them so I have to wait until next cycle. Thirdly, I also asked about what would happen about getting progesterone if I was to get pregnant again as this was something suggested by the early pregnancy unit after my miscarriage in the area I have just moved from and she said that it works differently here and I won’t get any help unless I lose another baby. I left almost crying 😭

@Kayleigh congratulations 🎊👣❤️

@Lesley here you go: https://www.midirs.org/latest-news/news/2021/updated-nice-guidance-on-miscarriage-using-progesterone-to-help-prevent-pregnancy-loss/

@Lesley I don’t know to be honest. Look up the Tommy’s study and NICE guidelines 😊 Also one thing to keep in mind is that they said that progesterone will not help with missed miscarriages.

@Kayleigh do you know if the study staying woman should be prescribed progesterone is applicable in Scotland? Xx

@Lucy I asked my EPU and GP and both said I didn’t fit the criteria as no bleeding. I’m now under the recurrent miscarriage clinic and been told they don’t prescribe progesterone automatically and I’ve to “push that door” if I get pregnant again. I’m in Scotland xx

That’s amazing news, got my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼

@Lucy I believe so and I will be getting an early scan

That's amazing! 💕💕🌈🌈🌈 Will it be the EPU giving you the pessaries? Hope you get them soon. X

@Lucy that’s disgusting! My EPU in Shropshire where I had my MMC told me that due to the NICE guidelines and the Tommy’s study that women who have had 2 MCs are now entitled to more monitoring and progesterone! The guidance changed last year! I am so sorry you went through that 😞

@Lucy I have my appointment with EPU next week for monitoring etc 😊 I pushed for another doctors appointment and they gave me the same doctor 🙈 but I was armed with the NICE guidelines and the Tommy’s Study, and I must say she came through. She said she would contact EPU referring me and I literally got a call a couple of hours later. I took another test and the line is even stronger today 🤞🏻

@Kayleigh how you doing Hun? Any success with the pessaries? X

@Lesley I'm so sorry, they should definitely give it you after the. Have you been referred to an epu? Have you asked them about it or just your GP? I'm in Manchester, where abouts are you? X

Congratulations 🥳 I’m not sure what part of the country you guys are in. I begged for progesterone when pregnant in June, I was told I had to fit 3 criteria Pregnancy in the correct place. Previous miscarriages Signs of bleeding I have now had 3 MMC and a chemical pregnancy. 😞

@Kayleigh omg congratulations so happy for you!

She certainly is! Yes you definitely need that second opinion. Request a telephone call in Mon morning with another doctor and say your EPU said you needed to get progesterone when pregnant again and if they query it state about is required NHS government guidelines now to prescribe it to women who have had multiple miscarriages. It came in last year. Fight for it girl!!! 💪💪 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈💕💕💕💕🥰🥰🥰🥰

@Lucy just rang my old EPU that called my doctor an idiot. They have told me that I need to get a second opinion and an immediate referral to EPU where I have just moved to.

That's amazing huni, so happy for you ❤️❤️❤️🌈🌈 now get on to that doctor for progesterone, on Monday morning. Wishing you a healthy, sticky baby and pregnancy 💕💕 xx

@Kayleigh Stupid cow! She clearly doesn't have a clue!! Especially if she's been off in maternity, as the NHS guidelines for prescribing progesterone only came in last year. A referral from the last EPU sounds great, request a new doctor too! X

@Lucy thank you. Ah good points made I may do exactly that and speak to the EPU here or maybe I can ask my former EPU to contact my GP. She outright questioned the EPU and I felt like saying they specialise in pregnancies and Mcs, you do not!

@Sarah I have to get bloods on CD 3 and CD 21, but I am due AF next week and they have no slots for when I will be CD3 😩 so I have to wait for CD for the cycle afterwards. Nope she didn’t offer a scan but I have to have swabs too which have been booked next week.

I’m so sorry about this I can’t even imagine how this made you feel. Did they offer you a scan or just blood tests? When I went for testing I had to wait for a scan too and the wait in my area was 6 weeks which felt a lifetime. I would absolutely push for a second opinion. On the blood tests, they told me on CD20 but they did say it was okay either few days aside so I wonder if they could fit you in around the dates?

Omg! That's absolutely awful Hun, I'm so sorry! Firstly, how insensitive of her using coming maternity leave as an excuse after hearing about your MCs.Not okay! Secondly, sorry about the tests that really sucks! At least you'll be in next month and not any later. Thirdly, get a second opinion on that as it specifically says on the NHS guidelines if you have had previous pregnancies ending in MCs, progesterone should be prescribed for future pregnancies. Or maybe speak to the EPU in this new area and see if you can get them prescribed? Sending support lovely 💕💕 hope you get your healthy, sticky 🌈 very soon! Xx
