Finger food/solids

My little boy just isn’t taking to finger foods and solids the way I feel he should. He will eat full strawberries and bananas and bits of toast if I am holding them (he will not eat them if he holds them, he will just play with them and ends up eventually throwing them on the floor and screaming) Even if I give him a BLW spoon he will always turn it around and suck it like a dummy (it is dummy shape so I can see why he does this) I’m getting disheartened by this. Is this normal? Can anybody help?

My daughter also does it… it’s frustrating but it’s a part of the weaning process. What helps me- I give her what I eat. We both sit down and I eat right in front of her, so she would see that I EAT exactly the same food. I think it takes time for them to realise it’s not a toy but food 🥲

My LG is exactly the same it’s so disheartening 😢, my HV said even playing with the food is a good start as they are exploring all different textures, at lunchtime we have a floor picnic together she tends to try more foods that way.

My boy doesn't care for solids atm :( he'll eat lumpy puree but not solids, everything I've tried him with he's spat out or won't hold or just drops it lol

My boy eats everything as long as I feed him but really hasn't taken to BLW. The only thing he tries to feed himself and sometimes successfully is toast! I think we have to just keep trying, they will get there eventually! X
