Fidgeting all night long

My 4 months old does this all night long. It gets more and more aggressive and she ends up stratching her face pretty bad (i trim her nails every other day)
She’ll eventually rip her dummy out and needs to be resettled. Shes fast asleep in the video!
Does anyone else baby do this? Is there anything that can help?
(I cant swaddle her as shes rolling, she also hates her arms being constrained)
Its almost frustrating because shell sleep really well untill she starts doing this and eventually wakes herself up.

Following as my baby has started doing this and I dunno why either 😂

Avatar

i know it sounds awful but its so annoying 😂 shed sleep through if she didnt do this. Ya gal just needs a good night sleep😩😂x

I have the zip up swaddles from Love to Dream it zips them in with their arms up so they feel like they’re being cuddled but not trapped, my girl would always break out of a swaddle and hated it but these zip ones have been a godsend they help her settle straight back off when she startles, I have to go and put the dummy back in every so often though but I don’t mind xx

Avatar

she wears a weighted sleep sac and loves it. I cant keep her arms buttoned anymore because she’s rolling. She just cant keep those bloody arms still🤦🏽‍♀️xx

Avatar

My girl doesn’t scratch her face, but she does fidget! She’s currently scratching the sides of the next to me, later in the night she’ll start slamming her legs up and down. It’s part of learning to self soothe.

If she’s badly scratching her face, could you try folding over the cuffs or putting mittens on her for bed?

Avatar

my boys the exact same and he’s in a grow bag with the arms out as he doesn’t like being restricted but the arms are having a party every night 😂 he was doing this a while ago and I lifted him to wind and he burped and stopped doing it for a while.. have ya tried to see if she’s got wind? Lol x

Avatar

I think with the arms like this on this sleep thing it stops them from rolling aswell, my girl can roll without this on but not with it on as her elbows are in the way if that makes sense xx

Avatar

i feel like an idiot for not thinking about turning over her cuffs 🤦🏽‍♀️😂x

Avatar

ive tried winding, giving a dream feed the only thing that settles her is putting her on my chest. Then i cant sleep 😂😩x

Avatar

Mines the same you’re defo not alone! I’ve had no choice but to put mits on him tonight as he gets out the cuffs…always, same as you do his nails sometimes twice a day and they’re still like tiny razors!🤦🏻‍♀️ which is only made worse by eye rubbing or sometimes eye digging🤷🏻‍♀️ I can only assume it’s either part of development or part of sleep regression 🫤 x

Avatar

Have you tried the baby grows with mittens? Won’t stop her waking up but might slow down getting dummy out and will prevent the scratches xx

Avatar

maybe it is the start of this sleep regression oh god 😫😫😫 x

Avatar

someone above said it’s potentially them learning to self soothe. Its just almost frustrating and i feel like hes not resting when shes doing it x

Avatar

or were the lucky ones and this is the sleep regression? 😂🤞🏼x

Avatar

ive just turned them over and she woke up and looked at me like i was evil😂😂
Daddys turn to settle her 😴xx

Avatar

oh nooo! 🙈😂 you can blame it on me 😂 good luck daddy x

Avatar

Omg mine started doing this too! Was up all night either replacing the dummy or holding her hands 😣

Avatar

I dunno what’s worse lol my wee boys just went over.. daddy’s turn to sleep beside him 😂😴 x

Avatar

my girl does the legs up and down thing, when we have the monitor on her it’s like an earthquake 🤣

Avatar

My baby does exactly the same. I spend the whole night covering him up as he always kicks the blanket and holding his hands.

Avatar

My little one does exactly this!!!! Rubs his face, pulls his dummy out then cries for his dummy. All whilst being asleep lol

No advice really :( just solidarity 🙏🏼

Avatar

During the day my girl keeps taking her dummy out, but can’t put it back in, so I have to do it for her every 2 seconds.🤪 At night she sleeps in Love to dream swaddle bag, so her arms are kind of “free” to move, so she still manages to knock out the dummy. I was up every half an hour to put it back in, otherwise she would wake up! She started doing this recently, and in the last 3-4 days she’s slamming her legs too just to make it more fun. Needless to say I’m knackered!! I really don’t know what to do about this.🙈

Avatar

sounds like my daughter!

Avatar

Seen every half an hour known to man 😂 she’s almost punching herself pulling her dummy out, slamming her legs down, heads going side to side! Just can’t sleep through it x

Avatar

Exactly the same here 🥲

Avatar

I’m going through the same! I’m trying everything I’m up once an hour from 1am. My LO doesn’t wake up - has he eyes closed just like this! Then she cries for a feed around 5. Urgh!! Hopefully it won’t last long for us xx

Avatar

We've had to use mittens for naps and night sleep otherwise my son wakes himself up and is covered in scratches. I use the built in mittens from the baby grows and then add mittens on top because it's that bad lol he always sneaks a finger or two out when I just use baby grows ones x

Avatar

My boys the same can only keep still if he’s close to me and co sleeping, he doesn’t like being in he’s next to me and wakes 4 times through the night for some boob, thought I was only me x

Avatar

I might get a lot of hate for this 🤣🤣
However, my little girl was the exact same, she would wake herself up and she once stuck her finger under her eyelid she was so aggressive 😩
I couldn’t use baby grows with mittens because it was far too hot so, I gave her a teddy to play with instead and it was like magic. I just take it away before I go to bed & now it goes everywhere with her and she won’t sleep without it unless she’s exhausted x

Avatar

i ended uo last night giving her a muslin because she self soothes with it, just a little frustrating because i cant sleep then as have to watch her 😂

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(
