Positive C Section stories!

So baby is breech and I have reduced amniotic fluid so I've been booked in for a C Section on Thursday. Hit me up with positive experiences please. I'm particularly worried about the spinal block! Thank you

@Leigh ahhh good luck to you! I've never had surgery either.... so it's really daunting isn't it. Yes tomorrow we will be mummies! X

Hiya, just had a booked c section on Monday. The spinal went great, I believe they do put local anesthetic before giving the spinal. So it's the local I felt, and I felt it less than a vaccine! The position is super important. You need to round your back, relax shoulders but they will guide you through that. had 2 CS, one emergency, one booked and it's been 2 positive experiences. Feel free to msg me if you have specific questions x

Honestly elective c sections are nothing like the horror stories. You'll only be in theatre around an hour and baby will be out in first 10/15 mins... the rest of the time flys by! All being well they'll probably discharge you the next day. The only pain I felt was a few seconds sting for the needles and the recovery was achey but totally manageable on paracetamol and ibuprofen taken religiously for 2 weeks. I was able to carry him in car seat briefly the next day. Got down to change him on the floor. Was putting washing in and wiping spills on the floor a few days later... it's all doable slowly and carefully. We were out walking week 2 and visiting family. Week 3 I drove. Loved it. Wouldn't hesitate to elect again. So quick, calm and chilled.

I had a section last Thursday and it was sudden as baby was breech and was going into natural labour so I didn’t have time to overthink it which is kinda nice! Spinal block is honestly fine I actually didn’t mind it as much as the cannula going in, you are numbed with spray then it’s just a little scratch , the staff held my hand throughout this and it was fine ☺️.

i had my planned c-section on 5 Sept, the team made the experience so positive for me. The first week of recovery after was tough, I needed to stay in top of my pain meds and I was very constipated (i wish i had taken senna earlier than day 7 to help as the laxido wasn’t enough). By the end of week one i felt better and could take walks by the end of the second week i have felt more like myself My husband rigged up a strap to help me get out of bed the first week & that helped a lot.

Ah, I'm booked for Thursday too. My last one was Jan 2022 elective, and very positive experience. Recovery will be hard, but just take all the meds and ask for help. Don't even remember the spinal blocks, think they spray some numbing thing on. Tbh the cannula into my hand hurt the most.

I’m in the same boat! We have an elective c-section booked in for Thursday too! My girl was measuring big and there is a history of macrosomic babies on both sides of the family so for obvious reasons of not wanting to have a hard labour which could result in an emergency c-section we chose to book one. You’re not alone! I’ve never had surgery either and I’m a-bit nervous, especially the recovery and relying on my partner to do a lot but I know it’s the best decision for me and baby. Hope all goes well! We got this! X

I had an emergency section with my first so a different experience to a planned one like you'll have. I've heard planned sections are such a lovely experience. But with my one it was fine, during the procedure you obviously feel no pain so you can be in the moment when baby arrives. The recovery is tricky for the first week but everyday you feel a bit better, as long as you take it as easy as you can! I'm opting for a section rather than an induction this time if I don't go in to labour so it can not be bad if I'm doing it again! Try to enjoy the experience! And congratulations in advance! Xx

Heya, I had my planned section last Thursday due to our little Girl being breech, and honestly I could not have wished for it to go any better!! I was a wreck turning up at the hospital, crying, panicking etc.. I'd never had a cannula put in there alone a spinal and any type of surgery!! But from start to end it was incredible, the team put me at such ease and made sure I knew everything that was happening. The spinal they give you a local anesthetic before giving it and honestly it just feels like someone is pressing up against your back with their thumbs, it's not painful at all! Any questions feel free to ask away xx
