Dog aversion after baby

Is it just me or did anyone start to get pissed off with their dogs after the baby was born? I love my dog but since pregnancy I started to get upset with him, now that baby is born I’m way more uncomfortable with him around. Does anyone know why?? I feel so bad for feeling this way 😕

Yess!! We have 3 cats and I started feeling the same way as soon as baby was born. Especially one of them is so needy and it just annoys me now. I feel bad and try to give them more attention but certain things I allowed before are not ok anymore.

I love my dog more! I was mostly excited to see how the dog would react to the baby. She loves him 😍

@Megan wow… at least we have a big yard here… even though it’s challenging, good thing our dog loves his daddy. Hopefully things will get better for all of us 🙏🏽

@Marissa same here! My dog started to bark in the middle of the night out of the blue and it makes me go bananas 😣

@Hasiba my baby just turned 2 months today so I hope this feeling goes away soon… I can’t even imagine having 4 😅

It's definitely been a challenge. Our fur baby was our only baby for 6 years, and now she has to share the attention which has been hard for her. Our daughter is 3 months now but when she was like 1 month, I would get so frustrated with the dog because she would always bark and need to go outside as soon as I would sit down to feed the baby. And if my husband wasn't home it made it even more challenging because we live on the 4th floor of our building and there is no elevator. So I would have to take the baby in our bedroom and shut our dog out of the room so she wouldn't bark for 30 minutes. It's definitely gotten better but it was hard at first. I try to carve out times where my only focus is the dog so she knows that we still love her and she's still our baby too. We also make it a point to still do special things with her like car rides, trips to the dog park or the pet store for her to pick out a toy or treat.

I force myself to play with her just to remind myself that I still love her. But our main issue is she barks a lot and when it wakes up the baby I resent her a lot.

Yes! I have 4 and they are so spoiled and have been the center of my attention for years. Once the baby got here, I was just tired and my hormones have gone crazy. But I did ask my husband to spend more time with them so they wouldn’t feel neglected which helped a lot. Overtime it has gotten better, but I still have my days. My baby is 9 weeks old and I started to feel better at 8 weeks

@Marissa exactly what happened to me. My dog was my baby… now it’s a different story 🙁

@Yomi oh gosh … hopefully it goes away soon cause I have nobody to leave him 😩

Omg yes. My dog is actually more jealous than my daughter is of the baby so I feel like I’m constantly scolding him especially when people come over 😑

Ugh yes! My dog was my precious baby before my daughter was born and now she irritates me so much 😖. I find it truly baffling because she used to be my whole world.

Hormones. I was pissed at everyone during the first weeks. One day, I cursed the sun for being too bright in my window 😅. You are not alone. See if someone can take him while you heal and get used to having a new baby or take up the responsibility of him for a while. 😊 you got this!
