I had to switch when my son was at nursery as I’m not able to pump enough to keep up with his demand 🤣 we started him on aptamil follow on 2 advance as it is tailored to work alongside breastfeeding. He took to it really well but his poops are horrible now 🤣 I still bf him when he’s with me and at nights it’s only at nursery he has formula x
If you are only considering transitioning to formula because you're returning to work, I don't think you need to. If your son will be around a year old in a couple of months he can go straight to cows milk (or oat etc) while not with you and you can just continue to bf now and whenever you're with each other after starting work. If you do want to stop bf-ing before a year old for other reasons, then just reduce gradually to avoid blocked ducts and so to make it less of a shock for him. Unless your little one is used to bottles already, I would give him milk in a cup, there's no need to introduce bottles at this stage.
I combi feed, and my LB takes to Kendamill really well.
When do you return to work? Sounds like it’s just before he turns 1? You can still bf when you are with him but just buy some ready made formula for when he’s not. He will only need 1 or 2 when you are not there. Then when he is 1 a cup of cows milk will do
Same as above, I work 3 days a week at the mo and she has a few bottles of formula at nursery then we just breastfeed as normal when we’re together. I pump every 3-4 hours or so and save it if I can (I have a long commute so not always possible).
Hey, my son had expressed BM in a bottle at bedtime for 6m, so he was used to the bottle by the time i introduced formula (and formula+bottle weren’t both new at once). If you haven’t done this maybe try that for a few days first. Then i gave him a small amount of formula at a relaxed time of day when he wasn’t hungry (rather than the bedtime bottle where he drinks loads). He was a bit unsure at first but then fine. I have a friend who recommended half and half for a bit but i didn’t do that but you could try. I use kendamil first infant as it’s made in the UK which i like! And they have ready made options which are useful when away xxx
Are you able to pump at work? Legally they have to support you in doing this! If you don’t want to stop bf there is no reason you should have to even if going back to work 🫶
