Do I take my own bottles to hospital?

Hey ladies, so I am hoping to exclusively pump for baby. I want her to have my breast milk I just don’t want her to latch. So my question is, what exactly do I need to take to hospital for birth? Would it be… pump & bottles? But what do I do about sterilising things? Can I sterilise at the hospital because obviously bottles only stay sterile for 24 hours. Also, with milk not coming in straight away, is it just colostrum still that I’ll be giving her at the hospital? Thankyou

Not sure about colostrum because I bottle fed but there’s a milk kitchen in the hospital that you can prep stuff and sterilise in. Bring a microwave steriliser bag to sterilise bottles there as you go x

Buy some Milton sterilising tablets that's what I'm taking with me. I'm sure they will have facilities but just incase x

And you do need to bring your own supplies x

There's no guarantee you will get your colustrum right away/ but if you have got some in syringes take these with you and they can be in the fridge/ refrigerated... You'll need your own bottles if you are in for longer than 3-5 days but it's going to be hard to regulate your milk flow if you want to exclusively pump/don't try breastfeeding for 1-2 weeks at first. You should get an expresser to start with which - haakaa is an easy hand expresser I would probably try and discuss with a midwife about logistics of going straight in with a pump etc...

It would be worth finding out directly from your hospital because their facilities and what they provide are all different. For example my hospital didn’t provide access to bottle making facilities but did everything for me around sterilising and storage and provided a pump, syringes and bottles whereas the last hospital I visited gave access to facilities but no bottles etc. I had to exclusively pump because my baby couldn’t feed effectively. The first 2 days I syringe fed after hand expressing colostrum and then from day 3 he needed larger amounts than is recommended to syringe feed so I began pumping and did cup feeding before moving to bottle feeding. The bottles I used were sterifeed disposable ones with disposable teats which were provided by the hospital. They were handy because they could also screw straight onto a medela pump so reduced the amount to sterilise. They sell them on Amazon so may be worth looking into if your hospital doesn’t provide x
