Baby rolling at night and is not a belly sleeper

We're at the end of sleep training and baby is now a sleep machine but we switched his mattress to a firmer one last night He rolls onto belly and doesn't like it and can't sleep on belly. He doesn't know how to roll belt to back yet He woke up constantly last night because he rolled and didn't know what to do with himself and because he doesn't naturally sleep or want to sleep on belly. So I flipped him back over each time The old mattress was slightly softer so we were advised to get this firmer one Firmer one facilitates rolling Should I go back to using older mattress until he knows how to roll from tummy to back or shows he can sleep on tummy?

No just keep the new mattress. It's stressful, but they have to learn with practice honestly. My little was the same, but now she can only sleep on her stomach for the most part and learned to roll back with practice.

@Cecilia you mean he had to learn to sleep on his belly?

@Lindsey my guy just let his head down to sleep. I found him once where his head was near the bed rails because it propped him up a bit without being totally I'm his tummy (he likes to sleep on his side-ish) So if he rolls to tummy and can't go back to sleep.. let him cry it out?

@Lindsey also my babe is almost 6 months so wouldn't tummy sleeping increase risk of sids?

@Lindsey is there anything you did to help them be comfortable sleeping on stomach? Or did they cry a lot until they put their head down?

@Lindsey sorry, also doesn't sleeping on belly hurt their neck somehow? I'm from the school that babies should Only sleep on back but I'm open to learning. Maybe it's just distressing seeing him on tummy. He hates tummy time in general

Babies need a firm mattress, so stay consistent. Both my children have been belly sleepers since the moment they could roll over.

@Emily ok to my baby took to belly sleeping finally! It's ok they sleep like that ALL NIGHT???
