You could get a good thermal flask to keep the boiling water in for when on the go. It will stay hot for a good 6 hours and take the nuby rapid cool with you and use the hot shot method (Google how to do it)
@Emma Exactly this! I would add, we use an electric kettle so we have boiled water ready to go.
@Lauren it says you can’t do that on our packet? You have to use once added boiling water to it within an hour
@Reena so add hot water, cool and reheat again? Are you not heating twice?
@Lauren are you not adding hot waters then reheating again though? My packet says not to do this 😒
@Honor it says the hot water has to have been boiled within the last 30 mins though?
I use a flask of boiling water and the nuby cool. Before cooling the water down in the nuby cool I do a ‘hot shot’, like an ounce or so of boiling water to sterilise the formula. Then the rest in the nuby cool. I can’t see why it says to reheat the bottle again?
The nuby cool doesn’t make it cold, just cools it to warm so perfect drinking temp
Pre make it and keep it in the fridge for 24 hours then warm as needed xx
@Clarice I never had trouble with just letting the bottle warmer do its thing. You can adjust the temp to the 158 f or 70 c reccomended by the cdc. I use a very strong water filter at my house that even filters out pesticides and pfos/pfoas and flouride too so the only concern in my case would be contaminated formula. I was using this method with a newborn. You can also put a insulated cup of ice water out to dip the bottle in after. I do that with over heated pump milk too
@Clarice the hipp website states you can premake and store in the fridge you would then warm as needed. Take a read https://www.hipp.co.uk/formula-milks/formula-milksbottle-feeding-advice/preparing-formula-feeds-in-advanced/ to clarify
For the times you are out take a thermos flask of freshly boiled water and milk powder. Then make up when required. You should cool the water to 70 then add powder. The point of the nuby is to speed cool it to 70 so you can add milk to it straight away and feed baby. I'm told the prep machines do not boil water so may not get rid of all the bacteria etc. It's not recommended but until you are in a routine I'd suggest having a prepared bottle in the fridge so you can warm it up when baby is hungry. Once you're in a routine you know when baby wants a feed do you have it ready at the right time. If you don't use the milk then bin it withing 12 hours or 1 hour of warming and don't reheat more then once. We did this with both our babies we've been fine x
I have the perfect prep machine. I clean regular and change filter. The chances of an upset tummy are slim but I do understand your concerns as you only want the best. But it does make life easier xx
@Clarice I think where the confusion is is once formula is made and either stored or given you can't reheat it once you've given it to baby that's what that means

@YazmynJade I see! No I’d never reheat once given to baby!
@Sofia it says on the packet! 🙈
@YazmynJade thank you so much this is so reassuring!
I combo feed baby as well: breast feed, pump, and formula when my supply is low. During those times he is ravenous we use room temperature distilled water to mix with the formula. However if it’s a night feed before bedtime then taking the time to warm the bottle is worth it to ensure a longer sleep.
@Michelle B thank you!
@Lisa I’m in the uk, nothing has been prescribed/we don’t have a paediatrician…
@Lisa we get free range to buy our own the only time it's prescribed is when there's a milk allergy or a baby isn't well and needs specific stuff
@Lisa also in the UK we don't get free formula unless in very specific circumstances like medical needs or certain benefits qualify for help towards it
When my LO was firsr born I could not produce breast milk. I had to pump until I bled to get any kind of supply. During this time I had to give him formula. What worked for me especially at night was getting a bottle heater that held two bottles. I would put water in the steam sanitized bottles (I have a very good water filter) and put the bottles in the bottle warmer on constant heat setting. I could choose the temp. I then switched it to quick heating setting when i needed the bottle and added the formula. That way there was always two bottles with appropriatly temperatured water waiting for me to add the formula. Keep hot water in bottles waiting for you to add the formula so you dont need to worry about the formula going bad, I used glass bottles.
