I seriously don’t think it will hurt them. Just stray away from known allergens and keep an eye out for any reactions.
12 weeks is pretty early to be introducing food bacteria to their mouth and gut. They don't have much immune system to deal with them, make sure they colonise properly
@Tia citrus can be served at 6m :)
@Desiree I say to avoid since it’s before the reccomened age to start solids. 🥰
I started letting my daughter lick around 5 months and introduced solids at 6m. Skipped purees entirely. Before that it's just too early. Their digestive system isnt fully developed until 6 months so it can cause a lot of problems down the road if you start too early.
I let my kids lick certain foods at around 4/5 months obviously it’s super minimal and not enough to mess them up in any way if they occasionally lick an apple or watermelon or whatever 😂 i didn’t start officially introducing solids until 6 months when I did baby led weaning. Also it’s your baby there’s zero reason she should’ve gotten furious over that
We're all told and say different things check with your pediatrician and gage it from there plus just ensure you're washing/"brushing " their gums !
I personally wouldn’t introduce anything into their digestive tract except milk until around 6 months old, it’s just not worth the risks. Even a lick is going through his system.
My babies pediatrician gave the green for my son at 3-4 months to start trying fruit purées. If baby is able to digest it without discomfort it’s totally fine. There are also apps that tell you what baby is safe to eat at different stages.
Just nothing over spoon full or two
Baby spoon ofc
If baby is able to hold their neck up and is already a supported sitter then you should have the green
Yes. The recommended age is just that a RECOMMENDATION! People take that and consider it law or mandatory. IF your baby is showing signs to being able to “eat”, let him! My baby girl started purées early. She is about to turn 5 months tomorrow but has been eating them from 3.75 months up until now. No baby is the same. Some parents will have to wait until that recommended age of 6 months because by that time baby should be at certain milestones for feeding food, like being able to sit up. If you are concerned, reach out to your pediatrician and see what they say.
@Indy, youre right that babies mouth chewing and stare when we eat, reach out to grab our food when their bodies are getting ready for food. Age recommendations for food aren't just about physical ability. A newborn's mouth, digestive system, and immune system isn't suitably developed for food. Food is very high in bacteria. Dentists for example advise different ages depending on if teeth have come through. When teeth break through this exposes the gum and allows bacteria to colonise inside the gum itself. If food is introduced too early, tooth- decaying bacteria will colonise. This causes harm decades later .. after around 6 months old healthy mouth bacteria colonies have been established and the baby's saliva has matured to be more anti-microbial. These protect against tooth-decaying colonies forming inside the gum, and then is fine to give them food. If there's no teeth, the inside of the gum isn't exposed so that risk isn't there.

It’s not something I would do, but “furious” is also an overreaction on her part lol
@Stephanie if you will wait or have to wait until the recommended age, so be it. But like I said, no baby is the same. Some pediatricians recommend starting early IF baby is ready! Lol Even the CDC says every baby is different and IF they show signs of being developmentally ready (see the CDC recommended signs below), then thats how you can determine if your child is ready for solids but the recommended age is 6 months because by then these signs “should” be present: • Sits up alone or with support. • Is able to control head and neck. • Opens the mouth when food is offered. • Swallows food rather than pushes it back out onto the chin. • Brings objects to the mouth. • Tries to grasp small objects, such as toys or food. • Transfers food from the front to the back of the tongue to swallow.
i think it’s fine! your “supposed” to introduce food in a month anyways. i heard you aren’t supposed to introduce citrus fruit until a year tho
