Induction

Hey all, I went in today with reduced movements and was advised to have an induction. To be honest, I’m so fed up I’ve gone for it! They offered me a sweep too but my cervix is closed 🤣 typical! I’m now STRESSING as they called me straight away and I’m booked in for Wednesday! The dr said it can take like 5 days sometimes for baby to come 🫣! Has this been the case for anyone?! Oh my god! Also, I’ve tried fitting my joie isofix base today and it’s blown my mind! Called Halfords for help and was told they don’t offer demonstrations to anyone who hasn’t purchased from them🤯🤯🤯🤯 I was like what?! So you just leave new first time parents on their own with no help?!! Wtf!! I feel sick now, I feel totally and completely unprepared and anxious! Could I please just have some positive induction stories?? I need to take my mind off this car seat base until my partners home and can have a look at it xx

About the carseat. Honestly they are so complicated but once you've got it its fine. You've done the right thing walking away from it when it's annoying you :) Halfords give awful carseat advice anyway. Have a look on YouTube there's often plenty of videos, or contact Joie if that's the brand you have they should be able to offer advice. You may also find it handy to join Facebook groups such as "car seat safety UK" and extended rear facing (ERF) car seat safety" these groups have been super helpful with how to fit in the car, put baby in correctly, what is safe to wear in the seat and more. You got this. Good luck :)

@Paris I’ve done this with requesting extra CTG, instead of induction straight away I’m 39+4. Went in for the second time with reduced movements. I’ve provisionally booked an induction as well as requesting sweeps before that! Hopefully it doesn’t have to go to induction

I was induced on Wednesday 8th and baby girl arrived on the 12th we had to stay in hospital and it was a looooong few days, totally worth it but just be prepared I thought it would be a fast process but the wait for a bed on the labour ward after having the balloon removed went on forever! I ended up going into labour on my own and being rushed up there, all I’ll say is get in a ball and don’t get off it I’m sure that’s what helped me along 😂

I had an induction at 10pm and baby was born 11:37am next morning

Thank you for all the comments ladies, I’m just going to take it one step at a time I think.. I’m so ready for baby to come now. I’ll be 40 weeks bang on on Wednesday. I sorted the car seat base, it was so easy I just needed to take a breather lol xx

@Raine take it easy, you need the Oxytocin to have contractions. Don’t think about the car seat now as that will get sorted in the end. Focus on you and your partner. I had a planned CS and always against induction but my body and my baby showed me another side of the story. My waters broke 1 week ahead my CS. I went in and got admitted for 24h. I started early labour. Next day morning I was dilated at 2cm and thinned cervix therefore Cons said I could have the hormone drip to speed things up given the waters broke or CS. I decided to try induction. 8h laters, I had my baby. Things have progressed very fast.

I had a positive induction. Induced at 10am and baby was born at 15:26

I went in for reduced movements at 39+4 and was advised to have an induction. It started early hours Monday she was born Tuesday evening. Labor didn’t really kick off until the Tuesday morning. They told me it could take 5 days it thankfully didn’t take that long. Good luck x

My induction started Friday baby was born Sunday night x

Currently in the process of being induced, day 1 was already 2cm dilated so could have my waters broken. However I’m now on day 3 waiting for a bed to have my waters broken on delivery suite. So frustrating knowing my body is ready just no beds! They said the wait for a bed is up to 5 days. But every trust is different so don’t let this put you off! X

@Hannah lord I needed this story today! Being induced tomorrow and had a sweep this morning but cervix still closed ! Thank you for sharing!

I had a positive induction! Pessary at 12pm one day, my cervix was closed. My waters broke natural at 2pm the following day and I was 6cm. Then I had my beautiful baby boy at 5.11pm so it was only 29 hours from pessary to birth. I didn’t need a hormone drip and baby was delivered naturally with no intervention 👍🏼

If your cervix is closed, I believe it’s probably likely the process will take a few days.

Yes mine was 5 days x

How far along are you? You can request increased monitoring, I had daily Ctgs (baby heart traces) at the hospital every morning and an extra scan, and if you're really unsure of induction you can request C section, just look into the risks & recovery. I didn't think I could cope with induction so when my babies growth dropped at 41+6, I asked for a c section as its less stressful on baby. I'm now day 7 at home at baby is 9 days old 😊 xx

I went in for a growth scan at 39+1, they weren't happy with her growth so I was induced at 6am the next day, my little girl made an appearance at 08:54am the same day, natural delivery with just gas and air. I had some stitches afterwards but nothing too bad, and we were home the same day! I got the impression from the midwife that my labour was very quick, but I was so worried about being induced so definitely want to share my story as it felt very positive ❤️

I had a positive induction, however it did take 4 days for it to work xx
