Washing detergent

UK BASED - what do you all recommend using washing detergent wise to wash all babies new clothes? Obviously the main one is Fairy but any other recommendations that smell really nice? 😊 Thank you

I don’t really know any other, but I would like to know if Ariel and Lenor is suitable but I’m guessing not?

I use all fairy it smells amazing

I use Fairy Non bio. I always used to use softener but didn’t use it when I washed babies stuff at first because I thought the less product on the clothes the better and it hasn’t made a difference to the washing at all. I sometimes use Dettol sensitive where softener goes in the machine, for washes that have sick/poo on as it antibacs clothes without having to wash on a higher heat and risk shrinking anything/costing more electricity

I don't use any softener on clothes but use fairy bio tabs

I found Fairy smelt too strong for newborn things - maybe it was my heightened hormones, I don’t know 🤣 I preferred using Persil non-bio alongside Comfort Pure fabric softener.

We use fairy washing tabs and comfort pure as fabric softner :) i found for whatever reason that if i used fairy laundry softner daughter would come out in red patches on her skin but doesnt react to fairy washing tabs 🤷‍♀️ she does suffer with eczema from time to time so might be that. I just use all of our clothes in that, and towels, bedding etc :)

Fairy non bio for both soap and softener + I add Napisan powder to every wash for extra disinfection (kills all bacteria at 40 degrees and works on stains at 30).

I was under the impression anything non-bio was fine!

I use ariel but all I can say is when I was in the hospital the nurse doing his final checks before he went made a comment "please tell me you arent using persil? Ive been a nurse for 52 years and it is the worst thing to wash babies clothes in!"

I use persil non bio

Im using an amazon brand non boi it smells lovely its cost effective and works well on babies clothes. I litterally started all my baby laundry yesterday. https://amzn.eu/d/6b2EHrG

I use Persil non-bio and Comfort Pure- smells amazing and we use for our clothes too. Never had any issues x

I used persil non bio but the prices were getting ridiculous so I’ve swapped to Tescos own and it smells lovely and had no issues! Half the price of persil too, if I want to use softener I use Asda own sensitive one too, again no issues! ☺️

I’ve been using Aldi non bio almat gel x

Always non bio for me. I usually just buy fairy when it’s on offer as I love the smell too :)

I’m using fairy non bio tabs and comfort pure softener. Am amazing combination! I asked on here and they were recommended to me, glad I went with them 🩵

@April ooh always wondered about own brand detergent, might try it. Is it okay with stains?

@Isobel yeah works just as well for stains as persil I’ve found. Definitely worth looking into especially when it’s half the price too, every penny counts these days!

@April perfect thanks! it really does, Especially with the amount of it I go through 🥴

Fairy non bio
