@Kerry actually the hospital midwife my personal midwife AND my doctor and the L&D nurses I would go see for fetal movement checks at the hospital were fully supportive of me finding peace of mind this way….a very distinctive kick or fetal movement heard on the Doppler actually means !everything! to a stressed anxious mama that doesn’t have the time to be in the ER for hours at time multiple times a week to ease their mind…every momma is going to do things differently and what they feel is best for them and their baby and if you don’t like it then don’t do it yourself 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@Bree like you said each to there own, I personally wouldn't rely on a doppler to listen for foetal heartbeat or kicks because once again it doesn't mean anything! There is a reason midwives tell you not to rely on them. Whatever makes you feel at ease though 👍🏼
@Kerry to each their own! I also don’t recommend just looking for a heartbeat and assuming all is okay, which isn’t what I said in the first place either. I used it to listen for fetal kicks etc. same as the machine they hook you to at hospital the doppler hears any sound and will pick up movements and kicks. If you wouldn’t do it then don’t but everyone has a right to do what makes them comfortable and this helped me a ton actually
Don't rely on at home dopplers for peace of mind, just because a heart beat shows baby could still be unwell x
@Bree thanks 🙏🏼
Sonoline fetal Doppler is the brand I ended up with I found at my local baby and mom thrift store but I’m sure Amazon has some good ones also and yes they definitely don’t recommend daily use or super often I only did it if I was really worried and didn’t have time to sit at hospital for 2/3 hours unless necessary. And sometimes it can cause more worry and stress if you struggle to find heartbeat but normally that’s when baby is smaller that it’s harder to find, it’s pretty easy to find when baby is bigger
Sounds good! Can you please send the one you've got? 😊 I know they don't recommend that but it might really help
I ended up getting a home Doppler with my daughter to help Put myself at ease and avoid going in for fetal movement checks everytime my anxiety got at me because they take forever atleast at my hospital haha, i could normally hear kicks with it even though I didn’t feel them and helped me feel better 😁
Thanks everyone it's really reassuring to see that lots of you feel the same! yes I have an anterior placenta! My midwife only told me that I will start feeling movements later than normal but when I tell her that sometimes I don't feel anything almost for a few days she just said to come and check if I'm worried. But every time I come everything is Ok so I guess that's just the baby's pattern really.
I'm almost 35 weeks, this baby has NO pattern other than active for a few days then quiet for a few days (which panics me). I don't know how we're supposed to count the kicks or keep track of movements when baby doesn't even know what they're doing lol 😅
This is my experience also, a few crazy days followed by a few quiet ones!
With my first I never had a pattern, I had a very quiet baby (wouldn’t have thought it now as the most lively 2.5 yo ever) I went in probably 12 times for reduced movements and got induced due to them. He only had the faintest pushes and it took a lot to get him to move. This one I’ve found moves loads more but still would say we have some quiet days. I can usually tell if everything’s okay as he has a mad hour at 9pm ish! So if I was to go a day without feeling much and then get to 9pm with him being quiet I’d deffo go in xx
yup no idea what i’m meant to be counting as she is on and off with movements
So relieved I’m not alone!!!

@Rosie omg I have this too , it’s like a pyramid on top of my belly button Phaha
@Bree this ☝🏼 also have an anterior placenta and feel like I have active days and really quiet days. First pregnancy had a posterior placenta and baby felt active 24/7!
I’m almost 34 weeks and this is identical to what im experiencing. Also get a lump sticking out above my belly button sometimes 😂 absolutely no idea what’s going on in there
I feel the same , annoying because apparently I’m meant to know a pattern by 30 weeks but there’s not really been one .. so your not alone x
Do you have an anterior placenta ? I was like this with my daughter and sometimes I’d go in for lack of fetal movement and she’d embarrass me literally Moving like crazy!!! But I really couldn’t feel it they’d ask me like you can’t feel that she’s moving all around ?? and I think it was because of where my placenta was I have a posterior placenta this time and I can feel this baby so much better it’s crazy
@Bree in America it may be different but we're in the UK! You stick to your way of doing things and I'll stick to mine 🤦🏽♀️
