Am I entitled to works Christmas gift while on maternity?

I'm in the UK and every year our company gives everyone a Christmas gift (hamper of wine, chocs etc) I'm currently on maternity, my colleagues received theirs last week. I was under the impression I'm entitled to the same as my colleagues even when on maternity? Does anyone know? And even better if you have any links to prove? I don't want to question HR without knowing myself x

im not in the UK but i would think that being on mat leave, you are still part of the company and should be entitled to same as your colleagues. sometimes they forget. i would email HR and say hey did i get forgotten?

I received my gift voucher in the post while on maternity so I'd say yes

Yes, you're meant to be treated the same - invites to work parties / training, bonuses etc

I've got my Christmas voucher last year but it was easier cause HR just send them to everyone. I wouldn't be bothere if I didn't get it tho. I'm not sure there is a law or a official rule. Just ask your HR manager if there is one for you and if you can pick it up.

I've had pay rises and bonuses while on maternity leave so I'd say yes. I missed a gift while off (3 year thing) and asked about it when I came back. They were very apologetic - they'd just forgotten! I'd give someone a nudge and they'll probably be mortified they forgot you.

I didn't when I was on maternity & was pretty miffed as I'd worked the majority of the year before going on mat leave! I worked for the NHS at the time.

I don't think gifts are an entitlement But you shouldn't be treated differently to other colleagues because you're on maternity leave, that would be discrimination

I’m in the U.S and I didn’t get Christmas pay that everyone else got or my evaluation merit when I was on my maternity leave and I think it’s very unfair but apparently there is nothing I can do about it. The merit is usually only a very small increase anyway but it adds up

Seems like a small thing to be worried/upset about. I would just focus on enjoying maternity leave and not worry about any work stuff.

Also from the UK and I would say No. We shouldn’t be treated any different but unfortunately we are! If you want it that badly though, contact HR and ask. Sounds like a nice hamper x

@Kayla I wished I was like this, and not be concerned with work related stuff. But I honestly can't help it! 😫 I just can't switch off!

Thank you everyone, you gave me the confidence to ask & they said my hamper is waiting for me to collect 😊😊

I’m not sure but I didn’t get an invite to my work Christmas party this year. I didn’t know it was happening until I saw the Instagram posts, but I did get my annual pay rise so I’m not too sour about it.

@Leanne oh I'm pretty sure they're meant to include you in Xmas parties, I was invited to my one, didn't go as it was far & didn't want to leave baby though xx
