I used the Ella's when I went back to work for 8-9 months til I decided to wean. I can't say I noticed what you described with the suction losing power halfway through, but it didn't seem to be as effective at draining as my medela flex pump. I would have to pump for twice as long to get the amount I needed (would run them twice for a total of 40 mins). For me, it was worth the trade off as in my jobs I am too busy to sit down to pump and need to be able to keep moving!
This might be a silly question but does it have the 2 modes ? Like the let down mode then collection mode ? My momcozy one does and you have to press a button to switch it and then change the level for the collection mode. I also get less from the wearable than from my medela so only use them if I’m doing something that I can’t wear the medela for.
I have also gone from the medela electric to ella! Mine turns off also. I just turn it back on. Mine turns off after about 15 mins. I think its just something it does assuming the pump session would be over. Just turn it back on to reset the pump session I also make sure i am wearing a pretty tight nursing bra to make sure it really suctions to my breasts because the medela handsfree bra + suction of the machine was pretty strong
Have you got it on the suction only setting? There is a setting that alternates between massage and suction
Here’s a video where you can hear the suction in the end stopping abruptly. It alternates the first two times and then stops altogether and finally comes back on at the very end and then stops again.
I’m going to use mine tomorrow for the first time. Do you have to use the massage mode before the auto mode or do you just go straight to auto?
@Vanessa I’m going to try my Ella for the first time tomorrow. Do you use the auto mode or do you do massage then suction? Any tips? X
@Libby I always just used the auto mode cause it was easier, might be possible to get more milk if you're adjusting manually but I didn't have the time to mess with it at work haha Think the main thing is just making sure your nipple is lined up right, it was also as if I had to gradually build up to the higher strengths? Or maybe the suction got weaker over time.. As in when I first started using it, the level 9 that it automatically goes to was hurting so I had to turn it down to a 6 or 7. By the end of my pumping journey I was fine with level 9 or even 10 sometimes
@Vanessa do you just use the +/- to adjust the auto setting too?
@Libby yep exactly!
Do you mean it turns itself off or the suction isn’t as strong? You have to make sure you are wearing a really tight bra even if it’s a little loose it will make a difference with the suction
