Son is stubborn

So my son is stubborn with everything. He was behind with speech, got a speech therapist, and less than two months, he was caught up. He just needed a push. I feel like that's where we are at with potty training to. He will tell me about 50% of the time he has to go but then hides from me. I can only get him to sit on the potty 25% of the time. He is showing many signs he is ready for potty though ( doesn't like diaper changes, makes it obvious when he is going, tells me, will stay dry for two hours at a time). I'm not sure what kind of push he needs.
