Pessary induction

Hey everyone, I’m at the hospital now got a pessary put in at 12 today and have been having tightenings and pain every 2-3 minutes I’m not sure if it’s contractions or not but they are getting increasingly more painful, told the midwife and she said this is supposed to happen but they won’t check me until tomorrow morning, is this the norm for being induced? Xx

You might be hyper stimulating, definitely not normal they need to take it out

Not normal, this happened to me and they had to take the pessary out.

Just said to my midwife and she said this would only be the case if there was no break between contractions, but because I’m having them every 2-3 minutes apparently that’s normal?

@Jennifer oh OK. I'm guessing if they get closer together and stronger then they might do something. Thinking back, my contractions ended up being 1 minute long each with what seemed no break in between.

Seems very intense so soon? I didnt have any contractions until the second day of the pessary but I guess maybe your cervix was more ready..? Make sure you have been given pain relief they gave me paracetamol and codeine alternately to take the edge off and I was able to have a hot bath as well.

I had this, I got the pessary put in at 9:45am no pain all day just tightness like braxton hicks until 9:30pm I had this intense feeling in the bottom of my back but it wasn’t going so they popped the moniter on and I was contracting and they were back to back, I was 1cm when they inserted the pessary that morning they removed it that night at 10:30 and 5 mins after they removed it my waters broke they checked me and I was 3cm that was at 11 I gave birth to my baby girl at 1:57am the midwife’s couldn’t believe how quick my labour and birth was, defo tell them as if I hadn’t they wouldn’t of removed it or even checked and I was in agony
