Can partners spend the night on the ward at St Michael’s now?

I thought I read this somewhere but it looks like it might only be Southmead… I’d love for my partner to be there with me since I’m having a c section.

I think you have to ask , i know southmead they are allowed to stay

They can but they have to stay in a chair and the midwives would probably suggest them not to. My husband left about 8pm and came back at 7am after my c section and we both agreed it was for the best as it meant he was well rested to take care of us both the next day x

Thanks this is really helpful! The last time I gave birth there was during Covid so they had reduced visiting hours etc. so this is good to know!

My husband stayed all the way through induction, labour and the recovery ward at st Michaels in December x

same mine could stay over night on the ward in December didn't have to ask. In a side note you can get a car park pass for free parking while you are in labour and recovery.. I don't think everyone knows about this!!! ask the midwife for it when you arrive xx

Yeah they can but don’t get a bed x

Is this the same for vaginal delivery?! Or just C section? Only asking as my previous 2 pregnancies 9 and 7 years ago dad had to leave at 9pm no matter what time I gave birth prior to that and had to come back at 9am the next morning

Thanks so much, this is really reassuring to hear!

@Kirsty I had a spontaneous vaginal delivery and partner was allowed to stay xx

@Kirsty vaginal delivery :)

I had a elective c section Dec. I was told would have to stay two nights minimum but partner could stay 1 night. I stayed 1 night in the end and partner could stay just on a chair. 1 night was enough. Everyone was so lovely
