Help

My son will be 6 months on the 21st and he barely sleeps at night. He usually goes to bed around 8 and he wakes up at all different times and it only seems to be getting worse. Like he went to sleep at 8:30 today and he’s up already ! He got up around 12:10 and won’t go back to sleep. I haven’t slept longer than 4 hours in idk how long. It’s beyond frustrating at this point. I’m exhausted and so cranky during the day. I have tried everything. And he isn’t awake crying or anything just awake ! I’m home all day with him and my 3 year old and I feel done right now. And it’s just me at night I never get a break. I’m just sad.

So sorry, hopefully it gets better . What is his sleep environment like ? My little one can be up almost all night if the environment is stimulating for him. Like if the tv is on , lights are on , noise, he would literally be awake but once I put off the tv, lights off , everywhere quiet , give him about 10 - 15 mins he would sleep off. If he sleeps and very where is noisy of some sort s he would wake up after 30 mins . Then I try to keep a routine of waking him up same time every day .

If he’s awake and not crying, is that truly an issue? Does he usually eventually go to bed or will he start crying?

How is his day sleep? Does he take naps?

@Stella we have a sound machine with brown noise on low and lights and tv off… there is no noise I did here that babies sleep better when it’s cold and they have on warm clothes maybe I can try that

@Michelle he will start crying and won’t go back to bed and when he starts crying crying my 3 year old wakes up so I usually try to get him before that

@Lauren yea he takes two good naps during the day in the crib typically 1-2 hours and like a little cat nap of 20 minutes

@Krista he usually wakes up and is quiet and starts rolling around and moving all over the crib and he has fallen asleep on his own before but it was maybe once or twice and never again. He will just get frustrated and eventually start crying so I go get him

@Michelle sometimes my baby does this and I let her just fall back to sleep on her own

@Juliana how long do you let him cry for before going? I try to keep in mind if my baby is fed, changed n burped to just let her cry for 5 mins but I also listen to what type of crying she’s crying

@Andrea it’s hard because his crib is right next to me and my 3 year olds room is right next to us so if I let him cry my 3 year old wakes up and than I have a cranky 3 year old crying because it’s too loud and a baby crying and I’m half a sleep about to cry lol

Have you considered moving baby to their own room? We moved ours right at 5 months and we have all slept so much better since. She was waking up every little movement that we made when she was in our room

@Juliana could he be getting too much day sleep? Maybe he isn’t tired enough at night

@Priya we are planning on moving him in the next few weeks We are fixing our basement to move my husbands office downstairs to give the baby the room

Thank you everyone so much for the feedback advice and support I swear since posting this Chubba (my baby lol ) started sleeping on his belly and is now sleeping from 8pm to 5am 🥰 drinking a bottle and going back to sleep until about 7:30 I feel so much better during the day and I feel more attentive to both my kids and happier

@Juliana yay! Great news! Once they figure out belly sleeping it’s amazing! Happy for you all 🥰
