Progesterone only

Has anyone taken progesterone only? From studies I've read it can help with anxiety and insomnia. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3987489/

I’ve been taking Progesterone for almost 9 months to help with my menstrual problems. It has drastically reduced the issues I was having. It hasn’t helped with insomnia though. I hadn’t really thought about it helping my anxiety, but as I sit here I realize my anxiety has lessened since being on progesterone.

Hello 🙂 Many people find that using Body-identical micronised progesterone does help with sleep (anecdotally, more so than synthetic progestogen). However, it's the replenishment of oestrogen that is used to alleviate most of the symptoms of perimenopause in most cases. Again, modern transdermal Body-identical oestrogen is lowest risk. You may know this as regulated Bio-identical HRT in USA (same thing, different names, but it's important that it's the regulated type for safety and efficacy as per The Menopause Society guidance) 🙂

Yep I have. I don’t think it helped much but balance my hormones. It didn’t help me sleep or reduce anxiety. Ultimately it wasn’t enough and started hormone therapy with pellets. That has been my lifesaver.

@Sharon very helpful info! Thank you

I take it due to nonstop heavy bleeding and have noticed when I stop taking the pills my anxiety does get worse. Hasn’t affected my sleep schedule
