Nursing

Does anyone else's LO seem to not get full from nursing? My baby will nurse for 20+ minutes and then still be hungry so I'll give a bottle. It's so frustrating because I'm then feeding constantly and it's discouraging me from breastfeeding, which is really important to me. Do I just have her nurse longer? Or could something else be going on? She was doing fine breastfeeding before and would be full, but now all she wants to do is eat.

Same!!!

Could it be cluster feeding to raise your supply?

@Carla I know cluster feeding as eating within close times of each other. does it also mean eating for longer periods of time?

Mine does the same! I’ll do 20-30 mins per side and she’ll still need a bottle after. Frustrating for me too because I also feel like it’s discouraging breastfeeding (and it’s exhausting!). I don’t have a solution, but here to say me too🙋‍♀️

@Elizabeth it's so nice to know it's not just me. thank you so much for your comment. I'm sorry you're going through it too, though!

This Been Happening With Me My LO Is 1 Week & After BF For About 15 Minutes Each Side He Wants More & More.. Pediatrician Said Some Weird Name For It. But It’s Like Cluster Feeding To Demand More Supply & Depending On How Old Your LO Is To Change Your Milk, Baby Also Might Have A Preference On The Kind Of Milk They Want… I’m Exhausted We Are In The Thick Of It! But You Got This Mama 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Same here with my 6 weeks old. I feel like she lives on my boobs during the day. But she sleeps ok-ish at night, waking up only once or twice. And she needs to get her calories in, so if she sleeps at night it's normal she eats all day, every day. She just needs the calories in. My other kids did the same. It gets better as they grow older and get stronger, are able to suck more efficiently from the breast. Hang in there. As long as they're gaining weight, it's fine. And no shame in supplementing with formula if you need a break.

Keep letting them cluster feed ! It will naturally raise your supply! If you do a bottle, I’d pump during to tell your body to make more!

Mine is doing the same!! It makes me feel like all I can do during the day is feed :/

My son was doing this, I started eating things that increase my supply and he’s been not as fussy after he cluster feeds

This has been happening with me for the past few days. My baby is 1 month old and will eat for 30 mins on each side and still be hungry. He ate off and on for about 8 hours the other day. But he does sleep good at night and wakes up only once or twice

@Christine what do you eat?

@Ally I started with a lot of oats and body armor but it turns out my sons stomach doesn’t react well to me eating oats as much as I was so I’ve started making flax seed buckeyes and brewers yeast brownies to snack on during the day

@Sybra my baby will be 1 month on the 25th, so maybe this is an age appropriate thing? it's so reassuring getting all these replies with mom's dealing with the same thing. I felt frustrated and alone and I no longer feel alone in this.

It’s cluster feeding which is normal. They do it several times until they’re a year old. Stop using formula bc then your supply won’t match baby’s demand. Just keep feeding them even if it’s every 30mins. Its annoying but it don’t last forever.

Aslong as ur baby is still gaining weight nothings wrong the baby is just cluster feeding. If baby is losing weight it could possibly be ur boobs are not producing as much as the baby needs anymore. I had to deal with this with my youngest. He started losing weight but was still eating off my boobs and when I hand pressed there was lots of milk but it just wasn’t enough for him so I have to supplement him a few bottles of formula in to
