It’s scary, for sure. For me, I felt like I didn’t know quite what to expect. I wasn’t prepared. When we left the office she was a mess. When we got home, I didn’t know how long she would be “off”. My one piece of advice would be to make sure that you are fully informed and feel comfortable navigating through this with your child. I was not informed and not prepared and as a result was scared, and so was my child. Hope this helps!

They may offer a small dose of Valium or something to keep your little one calm before the procedure. It’s completely your choice, but I opted for it. It’s a scary experience for adults, I can only imagine how much more upsetting it is for kids.

Also, this was for my 15-year-old when she was four so 11 years ago! I’ll stop by blabbing now lol

My 3 year old just had oral surgery last Friday to remove her front 2 teeth and fix some other cavities. The office was awesome and made sure we were well informed on the procedure and what to expect. They explained our daughter would be loopy at first with the first set of meds and then cranky when she woke up after the procedure. It was heart wrenching hearing her cry when she woke up and was pretty much inconsolable for about 30 minutes but eventually fell asleep. She was tired for the rest of the day but Popsicles and cold applesauce worked wonders. Liquid ibuprofen helped for the pain and discomfort but she seemed to be okay after a couple days. I would not want to go through this again lol but I'm glad it's over and she's comfortable now.

not my 2020 baby, but my older one. tried the light sedation/laughing gas first and he seemed good, but then freaked out when they started working on him. so had to do the full sedation. it was fine honestly, they are definitely confused when coming out of it. I was alone driving him home and would've felt much better having another adult in the back to keep him calm. that was the most stressful part. once we were home, he was fine, slept a bit and had a lazy day on the couch. he didn't remember a thing

My child woke up swinging like he was Mike Tyson

I’m very nervous, thank you all for taking the time to share.
